NOTES client connection to the Internet server

If you have your email on the Internet server using the Post Office (POP) (such as "Internet Service Provider" server), you can use Notes to read Internet mail. You can do this by creating a POP account. If you want to send an email to the Internet server, you will need to create an "Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)" account.

Supported connections can be connected to Internet mail using a local area network (LAN), dial-up network, or your own dial-up program. To connect from the firewall through the LAN to the Internet, you need to use the Internet Gateway or Internet Mail Server on the LAN.

* Step 1: Prepare before start * Step 2: Create an Internet account * Step 3: Create or edit the location document

Step 1: Prepare before start

Before you can send and receive Internet mail, you usually need some information provided by your ISP: * Connect to the ISP phone number (if you are accessible by modem). * ISP's network domain name (for example: myisp.com). * For POP messages for the POP account server name (for example: pop.myisp.com). * For SMTP messages for the SMTP account server name (for example: smtp.myisp.com). * The user name specified by ISP. * The password specified by ISP.

Step 2: Create an Internet account

The following steps describe how to set the Internet account for POP, SMTP. 1. Click the "Contact book" bookmark on the bookmarka.

2.

Select "Create" "Account".

3.

Enter the account name (for example: Pop Mail) in the Account Name domain. As long as the name is not used by another account and does not contain any of the following characters: / /:; = ", you can use.

4.

Enter the name of the server in the Account Server Name domain. For example: "POP.myisp.com".

5.

Enter an account login name and password in the Login Name and Password field. The POP server always requires login names and passwords. SMTP servers are usually unwanted.

6.
