The Denmark Treasury has recently adopted an open source project project to simplify data exchange between systems.
According to the public news released by computer science company, the new data exchange system uses an open source application server JBoss running Red Hat Linux, and the system transmits data at 1.5MB per second between 400 public institutions and the Ministry of Finance.
Henningsen, Datinarian Data Exchange Project Manager, said that the option of open source code is the result of comparing the BizTalk server, the latter is Microsoft's system integration application.
The main reason for choosing open source code is cost. The project cost budget is only about $ 330,000. He pointed out that JBoss is a stable platform, which is a basic condition for the data exchange system to perform important tasks.
Before using the JBoss project, the Ministry of Finance applies a variety of techniques to complete data exchange: CD-ROM, file transfer protocols for mainframe-FTP, Microsoft SQL server database replication. The goal of the new project is to unify the data exchange system and the exchange of XML format data.
The new data exchange system has been installed for two years, and it began in August this year. The system tunes data from internal and external enterprise resource planning systems (ERP), such as Oracle's financial software and Microsoft's Navision, and SAP company software, and confirmed XML data using open source Apache Xerces tools. JBoss server running Red Hat Linux operating system controls data transfer and exchange.
Since Many government departments in Denmark use the system to send financial data to the Ministry of Finance, there are national defense, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice, so system reliability and data exchange feasibility are very important. The Denmark Ministry of Finance also uses new systems to distribute wages, budget and management finances within the internal system.
Danish Treasury officials said that open source solution has not been encountered so far, the main challenge of the system has always been needed for users of different departments. (Tianji Net)
