Windows Series Operating System starts from Windows 2000 version to the current Windows Server 2003 version, provides Remote Desktop Management (RDP) feature, and the Windows Server2003 series is greatly improved, which can be discarded for our network managers. The tripartite remote control software provides easy access to the server. Now introduce the implementation of Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 Remote Desktop Management.

First, Windows 2000 Server version

Microsoft provides the remote desktop connection of the Terminal Server for the Windows 2000 Server operating system, which makes the network administrator to manage the server on a fixed workstation, which is intuitive, fast, efficient, and sitting before the server. There is almost no difference, and the conditions achieved are as long as your workstation and server are connected to the network. The implementation is as follows:

1. Server-side settings: Click the "Add / Remove Windows Components" button from the Control Panel, add "Terminal Server" from the Windows Component Wizard dialog box, then select "Remote Management Mode", after entering, "is being configured Component dialog box, put in the Windows 2000 Server CD in the CD-ROM, the system starts to install, restart the computer after completion, make the settings take effect.

2. After the server side generates the client's installer: Click "Start" → "Program" → "Management Tool" → "Terminal Services Client Generator", generate two client installation floppy disk, click "Setup" "After you press the default installation.

3. Use: In the Terminal Services Client Program menu, click "Terminal Services Client", appear "Terminal Services Client" dialog box (Figure 1), select the server name and screen size, click "Connection", appear We are familiar with the login screen, enter the username and password, huh, huh, enter the server's desktop, now you can operate your server as you want. If the reaction is still quite fast if it is on the same LAN.

Second, Windows XP version

The Windows XP operating system provides a more advanced desktop management model than the "Terminal Server" described above, and is now as follows:

1. Server-end setting: Right click on the "My Computer" pop-up menu, click "Properties", pop up the System Properties dialog box, (as shown in Figure 2).

Use the Model tab in the mouse to select the "Allow User Remote Connect to this Computer" check box (Figure 2) in the Remote Desktop. Make sure you have the right permissions to connect your computer remotely, and click OK. On a remote computer, you must be a member of the administrator or Remote Desktop User Group (Note: You must log in as a member of the administrator or the Administrators group to enable the remote desktop function).

To allow other users to connect to your computer, in the Remote Desktop area, click Select Remote Users ... ", enter the" Remote Desktop User "dialog box in Figure 3, click Add ... ", In the Select User dialog (as shown in Figure 4), click Location ..." to specify the search location, click Object Type to specify the type of object to search. In the "Enter Object Name] In the box, type the name of the object you want to search, click" Check Name ", then find the name, click OK, now, the name appears in" Remote Desktop User "In the user list of the dialog. At this time, the administrator of the server can remotely control this server. 2. The client settings and use: If you use the operating system over Windows XP, the client doesn't have to install because they own the client program connected to the "Remote Desktop". The connection method is as follows: Open "Start → Programs → Accessories → Communication → Remote Desktop Connections" will pop up "Remote Desktop Connection" dialog box (Figure 5).

At this point, enter the ID name name of the remote server or the IP address of the server in the computer text box. Press the "Connection" button to open the remote login window of the server. In addition, before logging in, you can use the "Option" button in the Remote Desktop Connection dialog to property settings to the window to manage the window. For example: the size of the remote desktop window, the number of colors used (Figure 6).

If the client uses the Windows 9x / ME / 2000 system, you have to install a remote control desktop client connection program. This installer is different from the previous "Terminal Services", which can automatically generate a client installer by the Terminal Services client generator. The program is the MSRDPCli.exe file under the Windows Server 2003 installation disc "support / Tools". Install the file at the client at the default setting, and finally restart the system according to the prompt.

After the installation is complete, you will find more "Remote Desktop Connections" in the "Start → Program → Accessories → Communication" column. In this way, we can establish and connect the connection with the remote server with the same method above.

In addition, WindowsXP Remote Desktop Management also provides a web application that consists of ActiveX controls, sample ASP pages, and other files, referred to as "Remote Desktop Web Connections", If you deploy a remote desktop web connection on a web server, it will allow users to create a connection with another computer in Internet Explorer, even if the user's computer is not installed. Specific installation and use See the "Remote Desktop Web Connection" below the Windows Server 2003 version, this is not repeated.

Third, Windows Server 2003 Standard Version

The Windows Server 2003 Standard version is a Microsoft's new server operating system. Windows 2000 Terminal Services Remote Management Mode is called "Remote Desktop Management" in Windows Server 2003. It supports the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 5.1 feature set, and can provide a remote service for the server console. In addition to providing "Terminal Server", "Remote Desktop Web Connection" and "Remote Management (HTML) "Two more advanced, safe way to manage the settings of the remote server, is now as follows: 1." Remote Desktop Web Connection "mode

When the network administrator is out, it is possible to operate the server, it is possible to find the "Remote Desktop Connection" installer for a while, and it is impossible to manage the remote server. The "Remote Desktop Web Connection" mode solves this problem, as long as the administrator is installed with the "Remote Desktop Web Connection" program, the client requires not high, and one finds a computer with IE4.0 browser. Address Bar Enter: "http://10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10." You can effectively manage remote servers.

Insert the operating system disc, click Go, the system automatically reads the corresponding component program from the disc. After the installation is completed, the setup takes effect after restarting.

2 The client only requires the Windows operating system to install the IE4.0 or more browser, no need to install the client software.

3 Use: Open the IE browser at the client, enter the address bar

http://10.10.10.10 / tsWeb (where the IP address is installed with "Remote Desktop Web Connection" computer), the first time you will enter the window shown in Figure 8, prompt to install "Remote Desktop ActiveX Control" control, select " Always trust Microsoft Windows Publisher, then, click the "Yes" button to confirm the installation.

Enter the administrator account and password in the login window, click the "OK" button, enter the remote server desktop, now you can operate remote computers like yourself.

(2), remote management (HTML)

Remote management methods are used to manage terminal servers in units through the Internet, which is characterized by the "Remote Desktop Web Connection" remote desktop management. The installation is as follows:

1 In "Control Panel" → "Add or Remove Programs" → "Add / Remove Windows Components", enter "Application Server" → "Internet Information Service (IIS)" → "World Wide Web Service", select "Remote Management ( HTML) "(Figure 10).

Insert the system disc, the system automatically reads and installs the corresponding components from the disc. After the installation is complete, the system restart enables the settings.

2 Use: Because the client requirements are not high, as long as there is an IE browser. Open the client IE browser, type in the address bar:

Https://10.10.10.10:8098, a security warning dialog box, click Yes buttons, will pop up the login window (Figure 11), enter the administrator account and password, enter the remote management interface (such as Figure 12). At this point, you can manage the remote computer, such as modifying the user password, setting up a web server, modifying network configuration, and more. Yes, under the "Maintenance" menu item, it also provides a "Remote Desktop" feature, using the "Remote Desktop Web Connection" as previously described, which can remotely run any programs of the server. And the web connection used here is a secure web connection method. This connection does not have to worry about your administrator account and password being listened, nor will it be recorded and tracked.
