LinuxAid.com.cn Site Latest Information: Emerging company Orion MultiSystems recently introduced a design, combining 12 nodes of Linux cluster systems on a large motherboard. The company said that 12-node system is selling no more than 10,000 US dollars, and 96 nodes are not more than $ 100,000.
Orion launches such a product not only to change the status quo of the conventional cluster system to configure complexity, but also to pay attention to the needs of individual use of scientific and technological personnel. The company said that such products are not to be able to fight against the general cluster system, just provide more effective use and management models for people.
On a big board, Orion integrates 12 Efficeon nodes. Each node is similar to the space, including components include: Ali chipset, Intel chipset, Gigabit Ethernet chip, 2.5-inch hard drive, DIMM slot, etc. The node and nodes communicate between the Gigabit Ethernet signals, mainly connected to a 12-port Gigabit Ethernet switch on a low voltage differential signal, which is handled by the latter to process 12 nodes on a motherboard.
The first system uses Fedora 2.0 Linux and the MPI file system. The latter was developed by the Argonne National Laboratory. The time delay of the entire system does not exceed 40 microseconds.
