ZDNET CHINA reported on August 26 (text: INGRID MARS / Translation: Jasmine): The new version of the Linux desktop environment KDE is working hard to make them more convenient to be used by disabled people.

Easy to use is a topic of the "KDE Community Global Summit" held in Germany Road Devisburg. Earlier this week, this summit held a "UNIX ease of use". In this forum, KDE's developer Harar demonstrates how to use a common keyboard to demonstrate how to use Gok in the development tool QT in KDE, another Linux desktop environment GNOME "Display Keyboard" . It also performs a demo of the screen text in KDE-speech conversion software Gnopernicus.

The new version of KDE will only be compatible with ease of use software that can only run in GNOME. KDE developers will also ensure that all applications in the new version can support the ease of use of Linux operating systems and will improve automatic use of mice, enlarge the screen and convert text into voice.

KDE developers Schmitt said on Tuesday that the change in QT will ensure that all of the KDE provides appropriate information for assistive technology. He also pointed out that the Gok "Display Keyboard" has a good supplementary kmouth text-voice conversion software. He said that Kmouth and Gok are a pair of children. If users don't talk, they can use these two software to communicate with others.

Janena, responsible for the free Standard Group, is said that users who care about easy-to-use users do not care about the problem of operating system, they don't care where the application is from, just as long as you use it. Jane said that the high price of proprietary ease of use is unacceptable, especially because many disabled people have not worked. Open source code ease software has higher availability compared to proprietary software, allowing people with disabilities to better crop their needs.

IBM is one of the main commercial version of the ease of use. KDE developers pointed out that ViaVoice will soon be ported to the Linux platform.
