What is PageFile.sys & Hiberfil.sys file?
Pagefile.sys and hiberfil.syspagefile.sys are a system file (Win386.swp under Windows 98), and its size often changes, sometimes only tens of megabytes, there are hundreds of megabytes, so Don't doubt, PageFile.sys is a virtual memory under Windows, which is basically similar to physical memory, but it is existed as a "backup force" of physical memory, that is, only in physical memory is not enough. It will play a role when it will play. We all know that although the hard disk is not as memory in the running speed, the memory is not allowed to compare with the hard disk on capacity. When running a program requires a lot of data, the memory will be "stuffed" when you occupy a large amount of memory, and the data that temporarily unused is placed in the hard disk, and the space occupied by these data is virtual memory. If set to O, it may be open, but your memory is enough, such as greater than 512, you can set it 0
Hiberfil.sys files are saved to this file when the system is sleeping. Its size is always consistent with your physical memory size. If you want to recycle this space, the following steps are possible: Open "Power Management" under Control Panel "to make the machine sleep selection, find" from "from the machine sleep option page Not "this option, select this, the system will automatically eliminate the hiberfil.sys file =============================== =================================================================================
This is because Windows 2000 cannot make normal operations for page file PageFile.sys. First check if the partition of PageFile.sys has sufficient hard disk space, and the pageFile.sys file size should be equal or similar to the set value. If the page file is corrupt, you can use the Windows 98 boot launch system. Under the DOS interface, execute "attrib -h -s pagefile.sys" to remove the file's implicit and system properties, then "del pagefile.sys". After restarting the system, Windows 2000 will automatically re-establish the page file.
Second, if the disk partition is NTFS, it may be because the permissions are not set. By default, all users have "full control" permissions to the root directory. When this permission is changed, a part of the user does not read the directory permissions, even if he has "full control" permissions to access itself, you cannot access the file. If this problem, you can restore the system initial settings, or manually set full permissions to access the root directory.
