RedHat provides Kickstart automatic installation, especially for situations where Redhat needs to be installed on multiple machines. To start kickstart installation, you must put the Kickstart file to the RedHAT boot floppy disk or boot the disc, the following is the experimental step:
1. First, 4 installation discs of EL3 install CDY to a machine directory / var / nfs / pub installed, the machine is used as an NFS server, and the machine's DHCP and NFS service are started, specify the NFS path to / var / NFS / PUB.
2. Open a terminal on the server to run the redhat-config-kickstart command, and then set the installation option setting in the graphical interface that appears, these steps are similar to where you install redhat, you need to pay attention:
1) Since the configuration of the X graphical interface needs to be manually interact, we will not configure it here, otherwise it cannot be installed automatically. We can run redhat-config-xfree86 after installation.
2) NIC configuration we take DHCP automatic access, specify the server's IP and NFS directories
3) The POST option can specify a script that will execute after the system installation is complete, so we can perform some specific configurations on the writing script.
After the configuration is complete, click "File Save" to enter the file name Ks.cfg.
3. Use the optical disk boot system to enter the installation interface, and enter after the boot prompt:
Linux ks = floppy, note If we don't have 2) a file named Ks.cfg, you need to be specified as
Linux ks = floppy: File name Enter, big success, now we can drink cup tea to take a break, the system will automate installation, only need to make a graphics interface configuration after success, visible, Kickstart greatly simplifies the installation process Especially if you need to install multiple machines.
