If you need to convert a specific volume to a NTFS format by means of a command line, perform the following steps:
Open the command line mode. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt (Command Prompt).
In the Command Prompt window, enter Convert : / FS: NTFS. For example, the CONVERT D: / FS: NTFS command will be formatted to the D drive in NTFS format. You can convert FAT or FAT32 volumes into NTFS formats through this command.
Important: Once a drive or partition is converted to NTFS format, you cannot restore it back to FAT or FAT32 format. To return to FAT or FAT32 format, you must reformat your drive or partition and remove all data including programs and personal files from the appropriate partition.
