Type "GPEDIT.MSC" in the "Start" menu, run the "Group Policy" program. In the left side of the Group Policy window, open "Computer Configuration", select "System" under Managing Templates, find "Turn off automatic play" in the configure bar on the right, and double-click it, then "Properties" will pop up. Set the label. Select "All Drivers" in the "Enabled" and "Off" drop-down list in the "Properties" setting tab. This will not have to worry about WinXP's "Auto Play" function.
Of course, if you just want to prohibit the system from scanning a file on a drive (such as a USB hard disk), the following method can be used. First connect your USB hard drive, let the system identify it. Then open "My Computer", select a partition on the USB hard disk, press the right mouse button, pop-up the disk properties window, select the Auto Play tab, select all the types of content to not perform the operation. If the USB hard drive has multiple partitions, all partitions are the same operation, so when you unplug the USB drive and then reconnect, the system will identify the USB hard drive without repeatedly ask you to play a USB hard drive.
