Fedora Core2 installation, Chinese display and Chinese input implementation

After more than 5 hours, I finally pulled Fedora2, so I can't wait to install. I am installed over the network FTP. The FTP server is the serv-u ftp under Win2000 (more about settings related information online), in the home directory of the FTP user, such as Redhat, completely decompressed the downloaded 4 ISO files This directory, the FTP server is set to OK.

On the machine we have to install Fedora, no windows will completely disappear from the hard disk, then copy the VMLinuz, init.img under the ISOLINUX directory of the download, and find the previous version. Loadlin.exe in the disc is copied to the same directory, switch to pure DOS to run loadlin vmlinuz initrd = autobootinitrd.img ramdisk_size = 9216 Start installing, selecting FTP, Locale is only ENGLISH (USA). Those in Chinese are just installing some fonts and input methods, and those who are not needed (it is ugly), and others are not awkward.

The Fedora's English interface is really very beautiful, but the Chinese interface is still very difficult. The system is in this time, but it has been supported in Chinese, but it has already supported Chinese display, as long as the Language click Chinese option in the lower left corner, in the middle of the back, it is Chinese, but the font is not good. Then we install the font, copy the corresponding TrueType under Microsoft Windows to the Fedora's corresponding directory. I am placed in the / usr / local / share / fonts / windows directory. Then perform the following command with root

CD / usr / local / share / fonts / windows

TTMKFDIR

CP FONTS.SCALE FONTS.DIR

Chkfontpath --Add

/ usr / local / share / fonts / windows

Restart X You can see the beautiful Chinese interface, I use the GNOME desktop. By the way, if you are copying the font file with the root user, you have to change the properties of the file to other users, I can have a lot of work.

Input method installation, I select SCIM, this input method supports entering Chinese under English LOCALE. Author Su Zhe's home http:

//www.turbolinux.com.cn/~suzhe/scim/. It is possible to download and install it to find the required RPM package. I only installed the following two rpm.

SCIM-0.9.3-1.i586.rpm

Scim-chinese-0.2.7-1.i586.rpm

Then rpm -huv scim * .rpm is installed.

One of the important steps is to modify it.

/etc/x11/xinit/xinitrc.d/xinput file, let SCIM start when X is started. I have seen a lot of articles on the Internet, but I always have to collee them. After you experiment, the easiest is to replace all the chinput in the xinput file is SCIM, and chinput is replaced with scim, and save the restart X.

But so far, my own machine has a problem is that I can't use Ctrl Space under the English interface to switch out the input method, the keyboard icon of the input method, but I can't enter, I personally like the English interface (for learning English, Ha ha), this problem is not solved. I hope that there is that master can solve.
