Microsoft test shows: Win2003 is better than Linux
Soft "Get The Facts" continued to heat up for Linux. This time, Microsoft announced the test results provided by VERITEST: On the file and print service tasks, Windows Server 2003 performance is better than Red Hat Linux Server.
Veritest compared the Windows 2003 Standard Edition server and the performance between the Red Hat Linux Enterprise Linux ES 3.0 running Samba 3.0. Samba 3.0 is a software that allows Linux / UNIX servers to load Windows clients. The test server system is HP DL380 G3 and Dell PowerEdge 500Sc, the former configuration is Pentium 4 2.8 GHz dual processor, 4GB memory, Intel Pro / 1000 MT dual port GIGABIT server adapter; the latter configuration is Pentium III 1 GHz processor , 1GB memory, onboard Intel 100M Ethernet adapter and Intel Pro / 100 FAST Ethernet NIC.
Microsoft said that the test results show that the performance of the Windows server is more than 46% excellent based on HP-based Linux servers, 24% stronger than Dell Linux servers.
In addition, Microsoft also claims that the file service performance of the two servers is 60% over the Linux server after data writing optimization of Windows Server 2003.
Microsoft has regarded Linux as a major competitor in the server operating system. It has established a Get The FACTS website in January this year and participated in the LinuxWorld Expo. '
