Oracle Universal Installer will install Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control when you install Oracle software. Start the Enterprise Manager DBCONSOLLE process Back to topic list You want to access Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control from the client browser, you must start the DBCONSOLE process. The DBConsole process starts automatically after installation. If the process is not started, you must manually start it in the command line:
1. Log in to the operating system as an Oracle user. Execute the following command to start the DBCONSOLLE process: Emctl Start DBCONSOLE 2. 2. If the process starts, the Database Control Login page will be displayed. Enter a username and password that is authorized to access the user of Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control. Click Login. Note: If this is your first visit to Enterprise Manager Database Control, then you will see a page about the license. Carefully view the information and answer accordingly according to your situation. For a detailed instructions on the startup routine and open the database, please refer to Chapter 5. 3. Display the Database Home page. You can access Performance, Administration, and Maintenance properties from the Database Home page. Grant EM Management Return to Total List In this section, you will learn how to grant administrative privileges to other database users. The administrator is defined in the management information library, which can log in to Enterprise Manager to perform the database user of the management task. The scope of management tasks provided in Enterprise Manager depends on the permissions and roles assigned to the administrator. Perform the following steps to grant administrative rights to other database users:
1. Click Setup at the top of the Database HOME page. 2. Display the ADMINISTRATORS list. Click Create to create a new Enterprise Manager user by assigning administrative permissions to an existing database user. Display Create Administrator: Properties page. 3. In this step, you will grant administration to HR users. Enter the following value: name: HR Password: HR Note: You can select an existing database user from the pop-up window with the flashlight icon adjacent to the Name field. Click Finish. 4. Display the CREATE Administrator: Review page. Click Finish. 5. AdministRators page again, the new administrator is included in the administrator list. Define Interrupt Cycles Back Topic List When you plan to interrupt your database, you can specify you do not wish to receive alert notifications by defining an interrupt cycle. Interrupt also allows you to suspend monitoring to perform other maintenance operations. You can define an interrupt time period in Enterprise Manager Database Control by performing the following steps: 1. Click Setup at the top of the Database HOME page. 2. A setup page appears. Click Blackouts in the left pane. 3. The Blackouts page appears. Click Create to start the Create Blackout Wizard. 4. Enter a name for the interrupt in the Name field. You can also add comments in the Comments field (although it is not a required field). Select Enter A New Reason to enter a reason for the interrupt. Select Database in the Type drop-down menu in the Available Targets area. Select the database and click Move. 5. Your database is now listed as a SELECTED TARGET. Click Next. 6. The CREATE Blackout: Schedule page appears. Enter the start time of the interrupt you plan, or if you want to close the database immediately, select Immediately. Selecting the duration of the interrupt, can be uncertain, a period of time, or for a certain time. Accept the default "Do Not Repeat" or select a repetition frequency in the drop-down menu. Click Next. 7. The CREATE Blackout: Review page appears. Check the information you entered carefully and click Finish. If you need to modify a setting, click Back. 8. Receive a confirmation message.
