This chapter lets you know how to install your Oracle database software using Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) and create a database. You will learn how to create an additional database using Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA).

Install software using Oracle Universal Installer (OUI)

You can install your Oracle software using Oracle Universal Installer (OUI). OUI is a GUI tool that allows you to view Oracle software installed on your machine, install new Oracle software, and delete Oracle software you no longer need.
Follow the steps below to install Oracle software and create a database:
1. As the management group group logs in to your computer, this group has permission to install Oracle software and create and run the database. 2. Insert the database CD provided to you into the CD drive. The Autorun window will be displayed automatically. Select Install / Deinstall Products. Note: If you download software from Oracle, please follow the following instructions released on the website. 3. The Oracle Universal Installer Welcome window appears. Select Next Start to install your software 4. When UNIX is installed, the Specify Inventory Directory and Credentials window appears. Enter a full directory to install Oracle software or accept the default. Enter the operating system group name that this group has a directory write permission. Click Next. Click OK. 5. The dialog box appears. Open a new terminal window, log in with root, run an ORAINSTROOT.SH script according to the instructions of the dialog. When the script is complete, return to the Oracle Universal Installer page and click Continue. 6. The Specify File Locations window appears. Enter a full directory to install Oracle software or accept the default. Click Next. 7. The Select Installation Type page appears. Also choose Enterprise Edition or Standard Edition for your environment. Click Next. 8. Installer will confirm that your system meets the minimum demand for installation and configuration. Correct and report the problem before continuing. Click Next. 9. The Select Database Configuration page appears. Select the type of starting database for General Purpose, Transaction Processing or Data Warehouse. Click Next. 10. The Specify Database Configuration Options page appears. Enter the Global Database Name and SID in the Database Naming section. Select the character set in the Database Character Set section. Select CREATE DATABASE WITH Sample Schemas Install Sample Mode. Click Next. 11. The Select Database Management Option page appears. Select Use Database Control for Database Management. Click Next. 12. The Specify Database File Storage Option page appears. Choose File System, Automatic Storage Management or Raw Devices for your environment. Click Next. 13. The Specify Backup and Recovery Options page appears. Select DO NOT Enable Automated Backups to configure your own backup plan. Click Next. 14. The Specify Database Schema Passwords page appears. Select Use Different Passwords for There Accounts and enter an administrator password or select Use The Same Password for All The Accounts and enter your password. Click Next. 15. The Summary page appears to include a list of products that will be installed. Click Install to start installing. 16. You will see the progress window. 17. The Configuration Assistants page appears. Allows Configuration Assistants to be executed.
They configure your network, start the domain database connection Oracle Net Services Listener process, create a database and configure the management tool. 18. The page that appears to display the database creation progress bar. 19. When the database creation is complete, the page containing your database information appears. View this list. If you want to demonstrate or change the database account, you can click on Password Management at the top of the page. Then click OK. 20. A dialog box appears. Open the new terminal window and log in to root and run the root.sh script. When the script is complete, return to the Oracle Universal Installer page and click OK. 21. End of Installation page The page appears, this page contains important information about the web application port number code. 22. Click Yes to exit. 23. You have completed the installation of Oracle software and creation of the database. Create a database using Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA)

If you choose to install the software and then create a database, or if you want to install the software to create an additional database, you can use the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA).
Follow the steps to create a database:
1. As the management group group logs in to your computer, this group has permission to install Oracle software and create and run the database. 2. Start DBCA: Start> Programs> Oracle - Home_name> Configuration and Migration Tools> Database Configuration Assistant Tools> Database CONFIGURATION ASSISTANT In the prompt, enter DBCA: DBCA 3. appear Welcome page on the UNIX operating system. Click Next. 4. Select CREATE A DATABASE in the Operations window to start a survey so you can configure and create a database. Click Next. 5. On the Database Templates page, select the database template type that creates the database. You can view the configuration of each database type by clicking Show Details. Choose a template for the type of workload that is suitable for your database. If you are not sure, select the default General Purpose template. Click Next. 6. Enter Global Database Name and SID in the Database Identification page. Click Next. 7. A management options appear. In order to use Enterprise Manager, select Configure the Database With Enterprise Manager. Select Use Database Control for Database Management to manage your database locally or select Use Grid Control for Database Management for your configuration. Click Next. 8. Enter the password used to users. Click Next. 9. Choose File System, Automatic Storage Management or Raw Devices for your environment. Click Next. 10. Specify the location where you create a DataFiles. Select One: Use Database File Locations from Template, Use Common Location for All Database Files or Use Oracle-Managed Files. Click Next. 11. Select Flash Recovery Area and specify the directory location and size. Select Enable Archiving to place your database in ArchiveLog mode. Click Next. 12. Click the Sample Schemas tab. If you want to include the sample mode (Example) table space in your database, select Sample Schemas. Click the Custom Scripts tab. 13. If necessary, specify one or more SQL scripts to run after the database is created. Otherwise, accept the default NO Scripts to Run. Click Next. 14. A Memory page appears. Select TyPical and enter a percentage value. Click the SIZING tab. 15. The SIZING page appears. Specifies the minimum block space and many operating system user processes that can be simultaneously connected to the database. Note: If you use a template, you cannot specify the size of the block. Click the Character Set tab. 16. The Character Set page appears. Select the character set for your database. Click the CONNECTION MODE tab. 17. The Connection Mode page appears. Also choose a dedicated server or shared server that suits your environment. Click Next. 18. The Database Storage page appears.
Make changes when accepting or needing. Click Next. 19. Select CREATE DATABASE to create your database. You can also select Save As a Database Template to save your configuration. Click Finish. 20. In the Confirmation window, confirm the option to install and then click OK. 21. Your database is created. 22. After the database is created, you can change or release your password or click EXIT.
