Email is an important purpose of the network. We generally have to transfer emails, always use a SMTP (Simple Email Transfer Protocol) server to transfer: We send mail to the SMTP server, and then transfer your mail to The other party's recipient server. Because there is such a process, it is often sent to the message when the network is blocked, and the message is not sent or the message has been sent for a long time. Now there is a Window 2000, which comes with the SMTP protocol, we can use our computer as the SMTP server to implement email express delivery. First, we must install Microsoft SMTP Service on Windows 2000. Open the Control Panel, click Add / Remove Windows Components in the Add / Remove Programs dialog box, open the Windows Component Wizard. Open the "Internet Information Service (IIS)" details, select "SMTP Service" inside, and the system will automatically pick up tags on other must-have options, confirm the selection, and continue to be installed until the installation is complete. Then we need to configure this "SMTP Service". Open Administrative Tools in the Control Panel and select "Internet Service Manager", open the "default SMTP virtual server" property window in this manager, and our configuration work will be performed here. In the "General" tab, we set the IP address as "127.0.0.1", indicating that the unit is used as a server (see Figure 2). Then, in the Access tab, "Relay Control" is set, confirm that "except only the following list" is selected, (see Figure 3) Otherwise, you will not be able to send the email to the address other than this unit, express Get an error message when the Outlook Express is sent: "Since the server refuses one of the recipients, you can't send the email." Next, we need to set the "Pass" tab, you can set up the retry interval according to the actual requirements In order to ensure "express delivery", you can change the time a few retry times. Of course, in general, the email can be issued smoothly, so there is no relationship with the retry interval here. At this point, we have completed the configuration of the SMTP Service. Below we can experience the power of this email express delivery service. Open your usual email software, such as Outlook Express or Foxmail, create a new message account or modify a previous account, fill in "127.0.0.1" in the SMTP server, confirm it. You can use this account to send your email like before, and you will find the speed of the sender very quickly. However, the success of the mail software tells the success of the letter can only be sent to the SMTP server, and now it is equal to the SMTP Service sent to this unit, and it is not equal to express delivery has been successful. So, how can I know if the express delivery is really successful? By default, you only need to open the Windows 2000 installation partition / inetpub / mailroot / queue folder, if it is empty, then explain the machine has already sent the letter, if there are several files inside, The letter has not yet been sent, usually because the network is busy, wait a little, wait until the file inside, explains the success of the letter. At the same time, you can also monitor the SMTP service in the "Performance" dialog box in the management tool to see if it works.
