Description description
Oracle9i JDeveloper J2ME extensions offer integration between JDeveloper and a wide variety of J2ME compatible wireless kits. To use this extension, you need:
1. Install at least one Wireless Toolkit in your machine (Wireless Toolkit)
2. Set an extension in JDeveloper
How it works how it works?
The purpose of J2ME EXTENSION (J2ME extension) is to provide a seamless connection between existing Wireless Toolkits and JDeveloper, which will also facilitate the wholeness of any new J2ME compatible kit. JDeveloper will develop J2ME projects as previously developed by any Java project, and will communicate with Wireless Toolkits, providing the features that Wireless Toolkits can provide, such as project launch, operation, and debugging.
Installation installation
download:
The Extension Jar File for 902 (J2MEEXTENSION_JAR.ZIP) The Extension Jar File for 903 (J2MEEXTENSION903_JAR.ZIP) The Scripts (bin.zip) The Help File (J2ME_JAR.ZIP) The Sources (j2me.zip)
We assume that JDeveloper is already installed in [JDEV_HOME].
1. Unzip the J2MEEXTENSION_JAR.ZIP containing J2Meextension.jar to [JDEV_HOME] / JDEV / LIB / EXT
2. Push the text of the script (bin.zip) to a new folder, but do not have to be in the [JDEV_HOME] directory tree.
· Unzip the content containing the help (J2ME_JAR.ZIP) to [JDEV_HOME] / JDEV / DOC / OHJ
· Edit [JDEV_HOME] /JDEV/DOC/ohj/helpbooks.properties file name, entry file book.numfiles increases in 1. Note that the value is larger than the value of FileName at the end of the file.
· # Book.numfiles = 56
· Book.numfiles = 57
Add an entry for J2ME Help Jar in the back:
Book.FileName.56 = j2me.jar
3. If JDeveloper is currently running, please exit.
4. Start JDeveloper.
J2ME Wireless Toolkits
Many providers now provide J2ME Wireless Toolkits to help develop J2ME applications. Any J2ME kit can be integrated into JDeveloper through this extension. The toolkit that can be integrated includes the following:
Sun Sprint Nokia
The communications between JDeveloper and Wireless Toolkit will resolve through the script. JDeveloper needs to locate a specific directory for each toolkit in your system, with a script that cannot be changed:
Makemidlet
MIDlet suite used to publish JAR and JAD files
RunmIdlet
Used to run a previously released MIDlet kit in the simulator
DEBUGMIDLET
Used to debug the previously released MIDlet kit in the simulator
As mentioned previously, JDeveloper supports any J2ME compatible wireless development package. The following sections describe how you can integrate JDeveloper and Sun's wireless development packages. You can also guide the JDeveloper and other J2ME development kits to install Sun's Wireless Toolkit, integrate with JDeveloper
Download J2ME Wireless Toolkit from Sun's website (like D: / WTK104). This path will be directed when setting the extension.
The process of integrating with JDeveloper is very simple. The following Viewlet provides a detailed step to set J2ME extensions. This is a one-time operation that takes only a minute.
