WinRAR is a famous file compression software, which is powerful, easy to operate, and it is too uncommon to Winzip. Compared with WinZip, WinRAR has a relatively convenient place that it can create self-extracting files (ie, EXE format files) without compressing into zip or rar files. Below I will use a small software DISPLAYDATA I have developed as an example to simply introduce it to upgrade the "installer" production method.
Ready to work
First, you must install the compression software WinRAR. The higher the version, the better it; then install the extraction of unemployment insurance data small software; finally open the main interface of the compression software WinRAR.

After selecting the required file, click the "Command" Menu Select "to add files to compressed files ...".

Switch to the Advanced tab, select the "Self-Release Option" button in the middle, as shown below:
After clicking, pop up the Advanced Self-Decompression Options window, fill in the Path of the initial installer or file in the "Release Path" column in the box, here we write: "c: / program files / displaydata" (because the default when installed) The path is here); "ReadMe.exe" in the "Release After Run" field. As shown below:

If you want to add more shortcuts for the Start menu, continue by clicking the Add Shortcut button, all shortcuts are added, and the shortcut text edit box will list the parameters of the shortcut you just added, we You can also edit or modify the additional parameter content directly in this text editing box.
You can also switch to another tab for the configuration of the relevant parameters.
Switch to Text and Icon tab, add title and icon, as shown below:
Switch to the License tab, add a title, then click the "Load Text ..." button to load the license text, as shown below:
Generate installation files
All parameters are set up, and the "OK" button has been clicked "OK" to generate the upgrade "installer" of the software.
Execute this upgrade program, you will automatically open the readme.txt file, tell you the upgrade. And some pre-set shortcuts are added in the desktop and start menu, so that the effect of installing the update is implemented.
Note: This approach can only be used for software that does not need to add files in a Windows system directory.
