SQL Server 2000 log transport function - setting (2)
Step-by-step setting
In Primary Server, set StandBy Server and Log Shipping1 to open Enterprise Manager, click on the database maintenance plan from the tool.
2. Welcome screen:
3, select the database: Check Log Shipping
4, update data optimization information: Maintaining presets, do not choose!
5, database integrity check: Maintain presets, do not choose!
6, specify database backup plan: Never choose!
7. Specify transaction record file backup disk directory: Save the directory of the backup file points to the directory location of the information log file on Primary Server!
8. Specify transaction record sharing: In this window you must specify the shared directory name on the primary server. You can press the [...] button to browse the directory name.
9. Specify the record transfer destination: Click the [Add] button to open the "New Purchase Database" dialog box.
10, new add-purpose database: enter all relevant information about all Secondary Server
[Server Name] The drop-down menu lists the Secondary Server name that you have used in the previous preparation of Enterprise Manager. In the [Directory] text field, enter the directory name of Secondary Server to receive the source database transaction log file copy; this name is the local path name, not the shared directory name. There are two options for the database, you can set: No Recovery Mode and standby mode. The so-called "non-reset mode" means that the user will not be able to perform a data query, uniquely executable actions only have the returning transaction log file. The "standby mode" is set to set the database into a read-only state; as long as you are not returning the database, you can query information. There is also a [Terminate "option in the Termination Database (Recommendation Options)] option, the action is active when the database or the returned transaction log file. The "Recycling Program" will be the only user in the database when you return the database or the transaction log file. So, Microsoft recommends that you check this option, other users may affect the return action.
11. Specify the record transfer destination: This setting is completed.
12. The initialized server: You can pick the most recent backup information; or create a new backup information. For large databases, the use of existing backup materials is more efficient. However, all transaction log files after the backup must exist in the shared directory of the primary server, the elves have a way to copy and return to the secondary server. If the database is not very large, then let the wizard generate a new backup will be relatively simple.
13. Record the transfer Schedule: You can set the backup frequency of the trading log file on the source database; you can also set the frequency of the SQL Agent on the secondary server (established by the elves to copy and load the transaction log file). The frequency of the log transmission can be set to once a minute; but in large databases, it is more common choice for five minutes.
14. Record the transfer context value: backup the action for the transaction log file, and the copying and reposing work, set reasonable delay time. When the critical time is exceeded, the Log Transfer Monitor dialog will respond to a warning message.
15. Specify the record transfer monitoring server information: This may be used directly, but the preset monitoring server is set to the primary server. In general, the main or secondary servers will not be used as a monitoring server, because if one of the server failed, the current status of the current log transmission will not be learned.
16. Generate a report: It is recommended to save the report to your log's directory, or to store the LOG directory of log shipping, it is convenient to find the reason! 17. Maintenance Plan History Record: A record is also saved on Secondary Server.
18, set the log shipping name
19. Press [Finish]! At this time, the wizard automatically sets the log transfer operation from the primary server and the secondary server, and sets the log transfer monitor on the monitor server.
