It is well known that disk compression tool Drvspace3 is convenient, compatible, has a relatively high compression ratio, but is not compatible with the FAT32 partition. Now the hard disk has a great disk compression tool, and there are excellent disk compression tools such as FreeSpace, and the maximum capacity only 2G drvspace3 compression discs seem to lose the glory of the past; in order to improve the efficiency of the use of large hard drives, or to use greater than 2G Partitioning, we have to use the FAT32 partition, further limiting the widespread use of DRVSPACE3. In fact, according to the current computer's speed and the need to install the multi-operating system, after appropriate processing, it can not only use the compression disk in the FAT32 partition, but also improve the transfer rate of the hard disk data, more convenient to manage and install the multi-operating system. Even hidden protection of the entire operating system and some important files. DRVSPACE3 is completely free to place in the operating system, and it does not have a reduction in computer resources after use, and there is no Chinese file name.
One. Establishment of volume file
In order to use a compressed disk, you must first create an air compression disk with DRVSPACE3 in the FAT16 partition, and then copy the compressed volume file DRVSPACE.001 of the compressed disk to the FAT32 partition. In order to flexibly use the compressed disk, it is best to divide the hard disk into two partitions of FAT16 and FAT32, and if there are two hard drives, it is better. If only the fixed-size compression disc can also be built in the FAT16 partition, and after moving to the FAT32 partition, use the commonly used disk tool to change the partition structure, and finally only the FAT32 partition is used. If you need a new compression disk, the volume file can be copied arbitrarily, but the file name must be drvspace, the extension should be 001,002 ..., etc. To use the extension 000 with caution, otherwise the corresponding compression disk will switch the drive letter with its hostboard. The compressed volume file in the FAT32 partition must be installed after installing the special method described below to become a compression disk. After installation, use drvspace3 to format it, or directly delete the data. In order to speed up the storage speed of the compression disk, it is best to make a full fragment cleaning of the hard disk before copying the volume file, allowing the volume file to have continuous storage space as much as possible. The maximum available space of the compression disk is 2g, and the 700m volume file can be re-compressed by the compression agent with DRVSPACE3, which can have a storage capacity of about 1.8 g. The compress disc in the FAT32 partition can only be fixed, and the disk letter cannot be modified by DRVSPACE3.
two. Volume file installation
After the system configuration file MSDOS.sys [Options] must be added "DBLSPACE = 1", so that the operating system will first load the compression processor Drvspace.bin so that the system is started using the application ScanDisk installed volume file. When the system starts, press the configuration file DBLSPACE.INI instructions to automatically install the volume files in the FAT16 partition, but the volume files in the FAT32 partition are not installed. You can join the command in the startup batch program autoexec.bat:
% WINDIR% / Command / Scandisk D: / Drvspace. ??? / mount
Let the DOS command to install these volume files, where ??? is the extension of the volume file, D can also be other drive characters containing the volume file, and each of the volume files that need to be installed in the FAT32 partition must add one such. command. Thus after the DOS is started, the application scanDisk will install the volume file in the FAT32 partition according to the commands of the command; of course, the volume file that is not installed cannot be used. ScanDisk installation volume files Automatically select the available drive letter when running ScanDisk, has nothing to do with the settings in the configuration file dblspace.ini, which is the cause of the DRVSPACE3 program that cannot change these compression discs; When the volume file, you must pay attention to the order of SCANDisk installed the volume file and specify a specific light drive letter in the MSCDEX program of the CD-ROM drive to avoid confusion. three. Precautions
Since the compression disk in the FAT16 partition is installed before the DOS starts, and the compress disc in the FAT32 partition is installed when SCANDISK is started. So the program and Scandisk associated with DOS startup do not place in the compress disc of the FAT32 partition, DRVSPACE.BIN or DBLSPACE.BIN and configuration files DBLSPACE.INI and MSDOS.sys must be placed in the root directory of the start-up partition. If the Automount is set to 1 in dblspace.ini, all hard drives and floppy disks are scanned when installing the compressed disk, looking for an un installed compression disk, slowing the start speed, set it into 0 to speed up the start speed, It is just that the compression disk in the floppy disk cannot be automatically installed in the future. Since rarely uses a compress disk in the floppy disk, even if you can use ScanDisk installed in the DOS window, set Automount to 0 to speed up the start speed is worth it.
When installing Windows in the compressed disk, pay attention to the modification of the automatic batch file when installing Windows, which automatically changes the position of the ScanDisk program to the location of the newly installed ScanDisk, and the system will not find ScanDisk to install the compressed disk. The system cannot start. You can select the COMMAND PROMPT Only status with the F8 key when restarting in the system installation, and the location of ScanDisk in the automatic batch file is changed. If you install the new version of Windows 98, it will delete all the original version of the DOS command, so you have to back up ScanDisk to prevent accidents.
four. New use of disk compression
At present, the computer's computing speed has been greatly improved, and the hard disk has a UDMA transmission method with less than 8% of the CPU. On the machine of the Slot1 structure, the flagship 638B motherboard, the flagship 638b motherboard, the six-generation 6.4G hard disk machine, after finishing the text fragment, in the compression disk of the highest compression ratio, the average compression ratio of the hard disk data is 2 . After the WinBench99 test, the average transmission rate of the same hard disk data increased from 13m / s of the non-pressure disc to 22m / s, but the occupancy of the CPU from 7% increased from 7% to 52%, and the average seek time is increased from 7%. It is no change; if the UDMA transmission mode is not used, the average transfer rate of the hard disk data is also increased from 5.8 m / s of the non-compression disk to 10 m / s, and the CPU's usage is about 95%. From the test, it can also be found that sometimes the data transfer rate of the compression disc is even as high as 120m / s. Exactly the same operating system and application, after installing in the compressed disk, the startup time is shortened, and the time to read the hard disk is significantly reduced.
Changing the installation order of the volume file or selectively installing the volume file can change the order of the compression disk, and you can also hide the contents in the compressed disk. This can be installed in different compressive discs, or put some important content even the entire operating system in a usually installed volume file, not only can flexibly adjust the Windows of different purposes, but can also be protected The contents of hidden volume files make them from viruses, or simply being viewed or copied. Changing the disk letter where the configuration file MSDOS.sys is located, and you can also select the operation of each operating system more flexibly. If the operating system is installed in the compressed volume file of the FAT16 partition, the compression disk can be assigned a fixed drive letter so that it will not be affected by the change in partition structure in the hard disk, nor does it cause unnecessary due to new hard drives and optical drives. Trouble.
Installing multiple operating systems will bring us great convenience. You can initiate an operating system to consolidate the fragment of another operating system through the movement of the entire partition or compressed disk, and this is often only a few minutes, which is much faster than all special debris. You can also use an operating system as a test-specific, and another for formal occasion. When the operating system performance of the test is decreased, you can quickly clon a volume of the operating system using the operating system used in regular occasions. Re-test use. It is also very simple to reload an operating system. You can copy a backup volume file in less than 10 minutes.
