Abstract This article tells how to architecture multi-domain mail system on an Exchange 2000 Server. In daily management, we may encounter an email system that requires multi-domain names, and opens different domain names for different users. In Exchange 2000 Server, Recipient Policies can be used to implement this feature.

Recipient Policies in Recipient Policies is an important feature that develops the recipient's email address, including: X.400 Address, Microsoft Mail Address, CC: Mail Address, SMTP Address, Lotus Notes Address, Novell GroupWise Address and other mail address formats. In Exchange 2000 Server, it is to determine if the Email forwarding to this server is compliant by Recipient Policies, and it is judged to receive. When we newly install an Exchange 2000 Server, a default policy is automatically established, which is the domain name entered when we installed as the default email address. See this strategy as shown in Figure 1:
Among the Filter Rules (MailnickName = *) represents all users, that is, when we create new users, Exchange will automatically build a mailbox for this user via the Recipient Update Service. Below, we will create a multi-domain name mail system through the specific steps to create a multi-domain name mail system.
Implementation Steps First click "Start", "Programs", "Administrative Tool", "Active Directory User and Computer" Open Active Directory users and computers, right-click your domain, select "New", "Organize Unit" "in" name "Fill in your new email domain, such as: You need to create a new mail domain name: Someone@yourDomainb.com, fill in the Name": YourDomainb.com, click "Confirm" after filling. (2) New and set Recipient Policies to open Exchange System Manager, expand Recipients, click Recipient Policies. On the right side you will see all the Recipient Policy existing. Right click on Recipient Policies, select "New", "Recilint Policy". The dialog will then pop up, as shown in Figure 2:
Select "E-mail addresses" and click "OK". Fill in your new email at Name, such as: You need a new mail domain name: Someone@yourDomainb.com, fill in the Name: YourDomainb.com. Click on the "Modify ..." pop-up dialog box below, as shown in Figure 3:
Remove the hooks of "Users with External E-mail Addresses, Groups, Contacts, Public Folders". As shown above. After you click "Advanced", select User "in the Field, then select" Login Name "as shown in Figure 4. After clicking "Login Name", select "End" in "Condition", fill in the domain name of your new email in "Value" plus "@" plus the DNS suffix you active, such as new email The domain name is: YourDomainb.com, the Active Directory DNS suffix is: YourDomaina.com, fill in: youdomainb.com@yourdomaina.com. Then click Add, as shown in Figure 5:
Click "OK", then pop up the dialog box, click "OK" again, return "Recipient Policy Properties", click "E-mail address" in "Recipient Policy", this time you can see There are two items in Rules: one is a SMTP address, one is the X400 address. Click "New", select "SMTP Address" in the pop-up dialog, click OK, fill in "% g @" in Address plus your new email domain name, such as "% to @YourDomainb.com" (here) g is a representative to represent the mailbox name with GiveName. For details, please refer to OK, then click OK. At this time, a SMTP project is added in Rules, select your newly built SMTP Address, hook the left hook, so that Apply to the user correctly, click "SET AS Primary", turn your new SMTP Address to the main project, as shown in Figure 6:
Click "Apply", in the pop-up dialog, click "Yes", and finally click "OK" to close "Recipient Policy Properties". At this time, you will see more Recipient Policy. Finally, we should also update the Recipient Update Service. Click "Recipient Update Service", right-click "Recipient Update Service" on the right, select "Rebulid", click "OK" in the pop-up dialog. To this: Exchange 2000 Server setting is complete, let's see how to create a new user mailbox. (3) New users open "Active Directory users and computers", click Right-click on the organization of the new organization just now, select "New", "User". Fill in your name mailbox in the "Name", for example, your new email address is: someone@yourDomainb.com, you should fill in: someone. Fill in the "Name" "of the User Login". "You create the domain name of your new email, follow the example above, you should fill in" someone.yourDomainb.com ". The "User Login Name (previous version of Windows 2000) is generated. Note that the longest character is 20, all, we can only fill in the first paragraph of the mailbox domain, such as: someone.YourDomainb Click "Next" to enter the user password. Click "Next" to confirm that "Create An Exchange Mailbox" is hooked, click "Next", click "Finish". A few minutes later, through Exchange Recipient Update Service, a "someone@yourdomainb.com" Mailbox will be generated for this user.
