WINDOWS2000 terminal service function and application
Windows Terminal Services (WINDOWS BASED TERMINTAL,, WIND) is a standard service provided by Windows2000 Server / Advanced Server, which allows users to access Windows2000 Server / Advanced Server Server with clients in the Windows interface, switch Windows2000 server interface to the client screen. To run the application in the server, users are as convenient as using their own computers. I. Advantages of Windows2000 Terminal Services and Application 1.Windows2000 Terminal Services The advantage of running with Windows2000 terminal services, all application software installation, configuration, run, and storage, etc., the client (also known as It is a workstation or terminal) only as an input and output device. Once the end user logs in to the server, you can use the resources on the server using local resources to run applications on the server (the program must be Windows applications). As the server side, WBT allows multiple end users to log in, and each terminal does not interfere with each other, independent of each other, even when multiple terminals simultaneously call an application on the server. Another advantage of WBT is that it is Windows based, friendly graphical user interface and ease of use. Moreover, in the network environment of the WBT, the data transmitted by the network is mainly the input information of the keyboard and the mouse and the output information of the display. All data is performed on the server, which greatly reduces the amount of network. Through the practice of the author, in the 10Mbps network consisting of 30 terminals, the request response response and the application's call speed is very fast. 2. Windows2000 Terminal Services uses WBT's unique feature, we can make low-configuration network systems to function like high configuration computers. For example: 486's computer has been eliminated in many units because these machines are too slow, even in a network environment, because almost all applications are running on the local computer, so speed cannot be improved. However, after the WBT, we only need a high-performance Windows2000 Server / Advance Server server, other 486 and other low-end computers can be used as a client terminal of the WBT, so that all applications run on the server to improve the speed. Another advantage of this network is very easy to centrally manage, it is very suitable for the construction of local area networks in schools and SMEs. It is not difficult to achieve this process, first form a Windows2000 LAN, server installation Windows2000 Server / Advance Server network operating system, workstation (client terminal) also installs Windows3.x / 95/98 / nt / 2000 stand-alone operating system, although WBT Allows the terminal to run a Windows3.x operating system, but in order to facilitate connection settings with the server, it is recommended to use the Windows95 / 98 / NT / 2000 operating system. The WINDOWS2000 LAN's Compilation Process is no longer introduced. The following is the basis of the formation of Windows2000 LAN, introducing the implementation and application of WBT functionality. II .WBT installation and login 1. Install the server's WBT If WBT is installed when you install Windows2000 Server / Advance Server, you need to install the following methods, the specific installation steps are as follows: First step, select "on the Windows2000 server" Start / Set / Control Panel, double-click Add / Remove Programs in the Control Panel window that appears, and the dialog shown in Figure 1 appears.
Step 2, select "Add / Remove Windows Components", select "Terminal Services" in the "component" below the dialog shown in Figure 2, about 14.3MB of hard disk space. In the third step, after clicking "Next", select one of the "Application Server Mode" in the installation wizard you want to use. In the fourth step, after clicking "Next", the wizard information shown in Figure 3 appears, selecting the "Right to Terminal Server 4.0 User Compatibility". Step 5, click Next, the system starts copying the required files from the Windows2000 installation CD. In the sixth step, the completion dialog box appears after the file copy is completed. After clicking "Finish", restart the system and the installation is over. 2. Creating a WBT Client Software If you want to log in to the Windows2000 server as a terminal on a Windows95 / 98, you must have the client software on the client, which is created by the following method: first step in Windows The 2000 server selects "Start / Program / Management Tools / Terminal Services Client Generator", which will then appear as the dialog shown in Figure 4. Step 2, insert a 3.5-inch software in the drive, click OK, the system starts to copy the required files to the software. Making a good client installation software requires two floppy disk storage. 3. Install the WBT client software on the client, in the Windows95 / 98 client, the first client floppy disk created on the Windows2000 server is inserted into the drive, and double-click the setup.exe file in the installation disk. The installation interface shown in Figure 5 appears. Step 2, after clicking "Continue" button, the system requires "User Name" and "Unit" information. In the third step, after clicking "OK", the prompt information of the license agreement will be selected, please select "I agree". The system will then ask you if you do not change the installation directory, in general, you only need to do it according to the system default. In the fourth step, when the installation is over, the prompt information for the terminal service client is installed, and "OK" is complete. Make more operations on all other clients. 4. The client logs in to the server When the above setting is complete, you can log in to the WBT server from the client. The steps are as follows: The first step is to select "Start / Program / Terminal Services Client / Terminal Services Client" on the client. The dialog shown in Figure 6 will appear. Step 2, select the login server name in the list box below "Server", as shown in Figure 7 (only one Windows 2000 server in the network, the server is called Win2000S). In the third step, select the resolution of this client in the list below the "Screen Area". In the fourth step, click the "Connection" button, the dialog shown in Figure 8, enter the "user name" and "password" of the client (note: "User Name" and "Password" must have been on the server Establish), click "OK" to start the login process. In the fifth step, after the login is successful, the interface shown in Figure 9 appears, where part of which is a desktop of the server. At this point you can use all resources on the server directly on the client, just as used as this resource, (Figure 10 is the "Draw" program on the server on the client). Since then, all applications on the server can be called directly on the client, and the entire program is executed on the server. The above operations can be performed on all clients simultaneously. Third. The setting of WBT servers describes the installation process of WBT servers and client-related software, however, in order to more convenient, safely use the WBT function of Windows 2000, it can be set for its related functions.
1. Creating a user in the new user account network If you want to log in to the WBT server, you want to use the service function of the WBT server, you must first create user accounts, create a method as follows: First step, select "Start / Program / Administrative Tools / Configuration Server, select "File Server" in the window, and then click "Open Computer Management" under Manage Sharing Folders, the window shown in Figure 11 will appear. In the second step, expand "Local User and Group" in the "Tree" list on the left, click the "User" icon, click the right mouse button, select "New User" in the shortcut menu shown in Figure 12 appears item. In the third step, enter the user's "user name" and "password" and other content in the "New User" dialog box, as shown in Figure 13. After clicking the "Create" button, the user's account creates success. 2. The management first step of the user account, selecting a user name after the Start / Program / Term Services Client / Term Service Client window, click the right mouse button, select in the shortcut menu shown in Figure 14 appears "Properties" one. In the second step, select the Terminal Services Profile tab in the dialog that appears, and selects "Allow logging in to the Terminal Server", as shown in Figure 15. Click OK to complete the settings. All other users requiring the WBT server must perform the above settings. 3. Setting of WBT Server First, select "Start / Program / Management Tools / Terminal Services Configuration", the window shown in Figure 16 appears. In the second step, select the "Connection" icon in the "Tree" list on the left, then use the mouse to double-click "RD ..." in the list, and in the changing dialog, select the Permissions tab. In the third step, click the "Add" button, select the user's "Name" in the "Name" of the dialog that appears, and then add the "Add" button to the list box below, as shown 17 shown. Click the "OK" button to return to the dialog shown in Figure 18. In the fourth step, select the newly added user name in the "Name" list box in the dialog box shown in Figure 18, and then set "permission" for each user as needed (shown in Figure 19). IV. WINDOWS2000 terminal simulation cards in Windows 95 and Windows NT Server 4.0, after 1995 and 1996, Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows 95-free workstation, so far, many units and schools have formed a Windows95-free workstation. . However, compared to Windows2000 terminal services, although there is a certain set of networking funds, it is the application of the NT server using the NT server, and all programs are running at workstations. So the running speed of the diskless workstation is generally very slow, and the establishment and maintenance is more complicated, and the general user is difficult to compete. Now there is a Windows 2000 terminal service, the diskless workstation has lost the existing market. In addition to the content of the above author, many network device manufacturers have launched a Windows2000 terminal emulation card (or Terminal card), such as the Star Centerm-2000, such as ZHV, etc. . The launch of the Windows2000 terminal emulation card can also make the 386, 486 and other low configuration PCs that have been eliminated. V. Conclusion For many users who want to build a unit within the unit or teaching network, the client configuration and dimension is a headache. In the traditional peer-to-peer or client / server (Client / Server) network, the configuration of å¹pc requires a high cost, and the cost is large. Most importantly, when using PC, there will be many problems to network security, and some important data and resources are sometimes difficult to centrally manage. In addition, from anti-viruses, to hardware and hardware failures, and constant upgrade, it takes a lot of human and material.
