Two days ago, Microsoft released a test version of Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 (MCMS 2002) (Beta 1). This is another Enterprise-level server that Microsoft released in 2002.
Content Management Server 2001 is committed to improving the access speed and performance metrics of the web page, but Content Management Server 2002 gives you different feelings, especially developers.
Content Management Server 2002 has two obvious features that make me excited: one is the integration of VS.NET, one is a full support and reference Web Services. Honestly, Content Management Server 2002 is much stronger than BizTalk Server 2002 (of course, both are functional). It seems that the "Microsoft .Net Enterprise Server" series will highlight these two features. Perhaps another development tool will be better than vs.net, but I want to be more difficult to surpass in integration. In addition, we will also see that Microsoft is using DOTNET to replace the previous VS6 development method, allowing more developers and new applications to focus on new platforms and development environments.
The current Beta1 does not seem to be a well-installed software, and even affects our good feelings. However, it is a smooth in accordance with the documentation that it comes with. Basically, it is divided into three phases, the first phase is software installation; the second phase is the database settings; the third phase is the installation of Sample data. The second stage is more troublesome. The Microsoft Suggestions on the Installation Platform are on Windows 2000 and Windows XP, and the messages circulated on the network say that there is still some small problems under Windows XP.
Microsoft recommends the following installation environment:
Server:
• Microsoft Windows® 2000 Server and SP2 or Later (Microsoft Windows® XP with IIS 5.0 or Later Can Be Used As An Alternative To Windows 2000 Server For Developing The Site, Though It Should Not Be Used In Production)
• Microsoft .NET Framework and SP1
• Microsoft SQL ServerTM 2000 and SP2
• Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 and Iis Security HotFix MS02-018.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer® 5.01 OR Internet Explorer 5.5 or Later
• Internet Explorer WebControls V.1.0
Database:
• SQL Server 2000 Client
Developer Tools:
• All Server Software (Microsoft Windows XP with IIS 5.0 or Later Can Be Used As An Alternative To Windows 2000 Server) • Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET
The picture shown below is based on such a installation environment:
Microsoft Windows.Net Enterprise Server Bate 3621 (EN)
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP2 (EN)
