Sub-backup and recovery with GHOST8.0
First, ready to work
1, GHOST is the famous backup tool, running under DOS, because you need to prepare a DOS boot disk (such as a 98 boot disk), (DOS boot disk creation point here reference). 2, download the ghost8.0 program, size 1.362K, all major software stations have free download, local download address: ftp://cjm123.vicp.net/ghost.exe recommended download to copy it to a blank floppy disk If you have a partition on the FAT32 or FAT file system format on your hard disk, you can also put it on the root directory of the partition, so that this command is read under DOS.
Second, use GHOST8.0 backup partition
System backup with GHOST, have two ways of the entire hard disk and partition hard drive. The following is a backup of my C drive as an example. It is recommended that when your C disk is new (reload) the system, you must use GHOST backup to prevent it. If you recover, you will return you a new system! GHOST8.0 supports FAT, FAT32, and NTFS file systems. Set the floppy drive as the first start disk, and cut into the DOS boot disk to restart the computer into DOS. If you don't know how to enter DOS, please refer to -> How to get into the pure DOS system to start entering DOS, remove the DOS boot floppy disk, and then cut into a floppy disk containing Ghost.exe. Enter "ghost" after the prompt "A: /> _", you can turn on the GHOST program, display the following Figure 1
The program information is displayed in FIG. After pressing the Enter key directly, the main program interface is displayed, as shown in Figure 2 below.
The main program has four available options :quit, Help, Options, and LOCAL. Click on the Local (local) item in the menu, there are 3 sub items in the menu pop-up on the right, where Disk represents backing up the entire hard drive (ie hard drive clone), and Partition represents a single partition of the backup hard drive. Check means checking the file or backup. Check if a backup or restore failure may be caused by partitioning, hard drives. I have to operate the local disk, should be selected for local; "local" (font change white), press the right direction key to select the top or down direction key selection, select Local (local) → Partition → To image (generating mirror) (this step must not be wrong) as shown in Figure 3
Determine "to image" is selected (the font is made white), then the carriage return, shown in Figure 4 below
Popked the hard disk selection window, because I only have a hard drive here, so I don't have to choose. After pressing the Enter key, it shows the following figure 5 shown below.
Select the partition you want to operate, you can use the keyboard: Use the arrow keys to select the first partition (ie C disk) back to the car. At this time, the OK button is made by the inactive becomes available, and the display is shown in Figure 6.
Press the Tab key to switch to the OK button (the font variable white), as shown in Figure 7
Press the Enter key for confirmation. As shown in Figure 8
Select the partition, directory path, and enter the backup file name of the backup store. There are five boxes in the above picture: the top border (Look JN) Select a partition; the second (maximum) selection directory; the third (File Narne) Enter the image file name, note the name of the video file with the suffix name of GHO Fourth (file of type) file type, default is that GHO is not changed. Here, you first select the partition of the image file: pressing about 8 times to switch to the last border (Look JN) (make it displayed by the white line, as shown in Figure 9
Press the Enter key to confirm the selection, display as shown in Figure 10
The partition list is popped, and the partition to be backed up is not displayed in the list. Note: The partition disk (C, D, E) displayed in the list is different from the actual disk, but the 1: 2 (i.e., the second partition of the first disk) is the same, Pay attention to the selection area. To store the image file in partition with sufficient space, I will use the original system's F disk, here, use the down direction to select the fourth partition of the first disk (make Its font varies white), as shown in Figure 11
After selecting this, press Enter key to confirm the selection, showing shown in Figure 12 below
After confirming the selection partition, the second box (largest) shows the directory of the partition, and can further confirm whether the selected partition is correct from the displayed directory list. If you want to store the image file in the directory of this partition, you can use the down direction key to select the directory to enter the reply confirmation. I am going to put the image file in the root directory, so don't select the directory, press the Tab key to switch to the third box (File Narne), as shown in the following image, enter the video file name, I want to back up the XP system of the C disk When the image file name is entered cxp.gho, note the name of the image file with the suffix name of GHO; as shown in Figure 14
After entering the image file name, the following two boxes do not need to be input, press the Enter key to prepare to start backup, display as shown in Figure 15
Next, the program is queried whether to compress the backup data, and give 3 options: NO means that the compression ratio is small, and the high is high, but the speed is quite slow. If you do not need to perform backup and recovery operations, you can choose high compression ratio, and the time used in 3 to 5 minutes, but the size of the image file can be reduced by about 700m. I use the right direction to select HIGH, as shown in Figure 16.
After selecting the compression ratio, press the backup to start backup after pressing the Enter key, showing the following figure 17
The entire backup process usually takes five to ten minutes (the length of time is less than the C disk data, the hardware speed is related), and the display is shown in Figure 18.

To quit the Ghost program, use the down direction key to select Quit, as shown in Figure 20 below.
After pressing the Enter key, the following is shown in Figure 21.
Ask if you want to quit the Ghost program, press the Enter key to completely exit the GHOST program, return to the display prompt A:> _, remove the floppy disk, press the Ctrl Alt Del combination button to restart the computer to enter the XP system, open the E disk After viewing, as shown in Figure 22
As can be seen from the figure, the image file cxp.gho is placed in the root directory of the F plate, the size is 725, 985K, which is 55% of the C disk has spatially 1.38g, partition backup as a personal user to save system data, especially in recovery and Practical value when copying the system partition
Third, recover partition backup with GHOST8.0
If the partition data that has been backed up in the hard disk is damaged, the general data repair method cannot be repaired, and the system cannot be started after being destroyed, and the backup data can be fully restored without reinstall the program or system. Of course, the backup can also be restored to another hard disk. Here, the process of recovering the image file Cxp.Gho stored in the e-plate root directory of the E-plate directory: To restore the backup partition, enter DOS, run Ghost.exe to start enter the main program screen, as shown in Figure 23 Show
Sequentially select Local → Partition (Partition) → from Image (restoring mirror) (this step must not be wrong) as shown in Figure 24
After confirming the Enter key, the following is shown in Figure 25.
Select the partition where the image file is located, I store the image file cxp.gho at the root directory of the E disk (the first disk), so choose "D: 1: 4 囗 fat driving", press Enter key After confirming, the display shown in Figure 26 is shown.
After confirming the selection partition, the second box (largest) displayed the partition's directory, after selecting the mirror file cxp.gho, enter the file name in the mirror file name, automatically complete the input, press back After the vehicle key is confirmed, the display shown in Figure 27 is shown.
Show backup information when the mirror file backup is selected (back up from the first partition, the partition is NTFS format, size 4000M, the space is 1381M)! After confirming, press Enter to display the following Figure 28
Select to restore the mirror file to that hard drive. I have only one hard drive here, don't choose, press the Enter key directly, showing the following figure 29
Select the partition to be restored, this step is particularly careful. I want to restore the mirror file to the C drive (ie the first partition), so choose the first item (first partition), press the Enter key, display the following Figure 30
Tip is about to be recovered, and the selection of the partition to destroy existing data! After selecting "Yes", press the Enter key to start recovery, showing the following figure 31
The backup image is recovered, and the following shows shown in Figure 32 after completion.
Remove the floppy disk, then press the Enter key directly, the computer will restart! After starting, you can see the effect. After restoring, the system is exactly the same as the original backup, and the disk defragmentation is also free!
