RADIUS is a protocol that transmits authentication, authorization, and configuration information between network access servers and shared authentication servers. RADIUS uses UDP as its transfer protocol. In addition, RADIUS is also responsible for transmitting billing information between network access servers and shared billing servers.

The main features of RADIUS are as follows:

Customer / Server Mode: Network Access Server As the client client, responsible for passing user information to the specified RADIUS server and then operates according to the return information. The RADIUS server is responsible for receiving a user connection request, and after authenticating the user, returns all the necessary configuration information so that the client provides services to the user. The RADIUS server can act as a proxy for other RADIUS servers or authentication servers.
