Yesterday, 13 companies collectively proposed a RFID standard for supply chain items. EpcGlogal, which is responsible for the establishment of UCC.ean's electronic article barcode standard, is on at least three proposed standards, and expects to develop this standard this fall.

These 13 companies include Impinj, Intermec Technologies, Philips Semiconductors, Rafsec, Samsys Technologies, Texas Instruments, and Zebra Technologies.

They proposed to use EPC UHF second-generation RFID standards as international standards, providing low-cost RFID tags and readers, and with some retailers and US Department of Defense users, TEXAS INSTRUMENTS's global business manager Tony Sabetti said, There are at least two competitive proposals.

The technical committee of Epcglobal is prepared to study all the proposals, which is decided to make decisions from June 28th and approve this standard before September 30.

Wal-Mart and other retailers believe that they need UHF 2nd generation standards, because this will make them easier to get the label information carried when the box and trays flow in the entire world supply chain. Current standards, Class0 and Class1 cannot provide this feature, which is not accepted outside the United States. "The company needs to increase the memory and information owned by the label, so that the item can save enough information while flowing in the supply chain," Sabetti said, "They need to know who to handle this item, now in the whole cycle of the item, even Different methods are used to increase information. Currently, when you post the label to the item, you also need to paste the EPC number to the label. "

The standard of this collective proposal is collected in recent months, but this idea has been brewing for nearly a year, this proposal in Europe, Japan, and the United States have been gradually permitted in synchronous, so the item uses EPC UHF second generation RFID The standard will be used smoothly in these three regions. Sabetti said this collective, including Texas Instruments CEO, will contact the Chinese government, but it does not have more messages.

The ideal result is that the Chinese government chooses a compatible standard. The National Standards Committee of China has established the National RFID Tag Standard Working Group to prepare the national RFID tag standard. The committee has also developed domestic compatible RFID label standards based on the experience gained by other countries and organizations that have successfully applied the technology.
