The local time this Tuesday, Sun has released a software for the RFID market. The software is based on Java programming architecture and JINI network technologies, intended to simplify data that will integrate data collected through RFID systems into other application software.
The SUN-released software consists of two main components called "Sun Java System RFID" by the event manager and information server: Event Manager is used to help process information collected through the RFID system, or filter information according to customer needs. The information server is used to get and store information generated using RFID technology and provide this information to other systems such as supply chain management.
Since Sun integrates its JINI network tool in the RFID system, when the device is connected to the network, it can be automatically discovered by the system and is integrated in the network, which is very practical in the repository environment using RFID technology. The "Sun Java System RFID" software is middleware, which means that it helps to work more smoothly in a variety of different RFID devices and software.
It is expected that the original version of the Sun Java System RFID software that can be run on the Solaris operating system will be available this summer, and the version running on the Linux operating system will be available this fall.
Inside the Sun, this system has been run for a while, but its commercial version launched Sun's first time to enter the RFID market. In a recent report, although the Forrester Information Company's analysts listed Sun as a potential leader in the RFID market, they also believe that Sun will face the fierce competition with competitors.
