The Based Network Message IDG message said that the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Standard Organization EPCG Lobal said on June 14 that the first global standard has finally determined to accelerate the operation of the company's supply chain using RFID technology.

According to the introduction of Epcglobal spokesperson Jack Grasso, the electronic product code (EPC) technical standard defines a variety of tags and label operating frequencies and label reading rates.

Recently, people began to promote product suppliers and retailers to adopt RFID technology, and believe that companies will be able to improve their efficiency and transparency of their supply chains. The technique is implemented by a label on the product box and pallets, with an RFID chip on the pallet, and the antenna on which the antenna is passed through the RFID reader, the unique product identification code will be transmitted. Then identify information to transfer to the inventory control system.

The retail giant Wal-Mart requested that the previous 100 suppliers from January 2005 started using electronic product code, causing a wave using RFID. Wal-Mart has begun to experiment with this technology in a regional distribution center and several stores. As part of EPCGLOBAL, Wal-Mart has begun to implement new standards in its experiment.

Although RFID is known as a future supply chain management method, there are several factors that have hindered its extensive popularity: the technology is not yet mature, the purchase and testing of the RFID system is expensive and lacks global RFID standards.

Grasso admits that the new standard does not solve all the problems faced by RFID technology, but he said: "The Standard Development is a gradually developed process. This is the first set of official standards, and other standard collections will then introduce it."
