The Biography Network Message Gartner analyst Woods believes that RFID technology will not reach people's expectations in the short term, and RFID users will experience inevitable disappointment in the process of ideal.
Woods said in a report that business cases will not be easily implemented. Gartner is still optimistic about RFID for a long time, but it is considered that the basic strategic approach to enterprises to achieve this technology can be mature. Woods pointed out that the company used a 20-year time to begin using barcodes in operating management and supply chains. He said that although RFID can't be used for so long, the company must recognize that RFID will become mainstream technology overnight.
Early RFID needs a risk prediction that many businesses do not have. Woods said that now, RFID is prepared for lucky and rich people. He believes that at least 50% of the RFID projects conducted by 2004 in 2007 will suffer. Early employers will become a pioneer because there is no best practice or process template.
The limited number of early adopers will adhere to 2007 to explore the strategic business case of RFID. There will be some cost-effective, visible failures, but some companies will find a valid business case. Woods believes that the company's enthusiasm of RFID comes from the fundamental misunderstanding of advanced data acquisition technology. With the continuation of the RFID project and the company aware of the costs involved, many companies will return to traditional technology and seek relief.
