More information

If you cannot successfully delete or fix SharePoint Portal Server, you may need to manually remove SharePoint Portal Server from the server. To manually delete SharePoint Portal Server, do the following:

1. Run the server installer and click Uninstall. 2. Restart the server after the uninstall process is complete (I suggest you restart the server, even if the installer is not prompting). 3. If the uninstaller does not delete the following folders, manually delete them from the appropriate drive:

• Program file / Microsoft Integration / SharePoint Portal Server • Program file / SharePoint Portal Server • Program file / met Files / Microsoft Shared / Web Storage System4. If the uninstaller does not delete the following registry item, please delete them manually:

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Microsoft Integration / 840DF115-893E-49d5-A386-654BF4081ED9 • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / SharePoint Portal Server • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Services / msdmserv • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / EmbeddedExchange / Setup • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CURRENTCONTROLSET / SYSTEM / CURRENTCONTROLSET / SYSTEM / MSEXCHANGEIS5. If you have installed and deleted Microsoft Exchange Server, or have a SharePoint Portal Server installation attempt to fail, remove the following folders (if present):

•% Program File% / ExchSRVR folder Note: This folder is the same as the% program file% / Common files / microsoft shared / web storage system folder listed in the previous step 2; however, if it is not re-installed after a failed installation Start the server to try to reinstall SharePoint Portal Server, the% program file% / Exchsrvr folder is placed here. If you don't delete this folder, the program may not function properly.

The information in this article applies to:

• Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001
