[Reverse Javalobby] JDO 2 Passes JCP Vote
It's a great pleasure to have heard today (3/2/2005) that the JDO 2 draft specification, which Neelan Choksi wrote about here last week, has just passed the JCP Executive Committee with 12 "yes" votes, 3 abstentions, and 1 voter simply not showing up on time. Dion Almaer has done a good write-up of the JDO vote at Javalobby and has included the comments of the various JCP EC voters. I know some of you may feel this is all too political for your tastes , but I think this JDO vote is an affirmation of an important process that is working - a process that works best when many of us are paying attention to it (and participating when we can.) The Java Community Process is unique to Java and depends upon active support from the community. One day it could be a standard that you care greatly about which is being voted down by the JCP EC for reasons that make little or no sense, so you do not want to wait until then to have a Healthy and vigilant Community Watch over the "community" process. j Oin The JCP Right Now. It's free, and your vote and your input there..
