This article will describe how to run Linux on Windows. In this way, the biggest advantage is of course convenient. You can use two operating systems at the same time without restarting the machine; Don't worry about the operation error while loading Linux, causing your Windows can't run, if the operation error causes Windows can't start, trouble is big.
My operating system is Win2000 Server, hardware is P4 CPU, 512 DDR, GF440 graphics card.
1. First, you need to download virtual computer software and a Linux ISO file. I use VMware V4.0.5 and Redhat 9.0. VMware needs to register, Google is searching for it; redhat has three ISO files, downloaded.
2. Creating a virtual computer based on VMware, requiring 4G hard disk space.
3. Load the ISO file on the virtual computer. In the properties of the VMware virtual computer, select the optical drive or add the optical drive to load the ISO file.
4. Start the virtual computer with VMware, the virtual computer will start from the disc. Redhat's installation is simple, just like the installation of Windows, all the way OK is in the end.
5. After the installation is complete, the virtual computer will automatically restart, you can enter Linux in the virtual computer.
A little suggestion:
1. The virtual computer is best with you in a network segment, but don't use the same IP, so it is convenient. For example, your computer IP is 192.168.0.100, then your virtual computer can use IP 192.168.0.101. This is just a suggestion, depending on how you are convenient.
2, virtual computer and your Windows can exchange files via FTP or web. I have established a FTP directory called LinuxShare in the Windows system to give read and write permissions. In the virtual Linux, use the FTP tool to access the Windows FTP service, you can more conveniently implement data exchange. There is no need to share the shared directory provided by VMware (in fact I toss for a long time, I don't know how VMware is ....).
