Cisco Router Port Group Management Agreement (RGMP) - Network Code

Cisco Router Port Group Management Agreement (RGMP) makes up for the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP: Internet Group Management Protocol) in the Snooping technology mechanism. The RGMP protocol acts between multicast routers and switches. With RGMP, the multicast packet forwarded in the switch can be fixed in the required router. The RGMP design goal is to be applied to the backbone switchs of the backbone switched network with a variety of routers.

The limitations of IGMP Snooping technologies are mainly reflected in: This technology can only fix multicast traffic directly or indirectly connected between the receiver through other switches. Under IGMP Snooping technology, multicast traffic cannot be fixed at least one. At the port connected to the multicast router, the multicast traffic of these ports is spread. IGMP snooping is the inherent limitations of mechanisms. Based on this, the router cannot report the traffic state, so the switch can only know the multicast traffic type of the host, and the traffic type of the router port is received.
