Network MAC address

The MAC address is a physical address in the serial EEPROM that is cured on the NIC, usually 48 digits. The Ethernet switch implements the exchange and transfer of the package in the MAC source address and the MAC destination address in a piece of information. To build a local area network, you must learn to bind IP and MAC addresses; change the new NIC, you must learn to modify the MAC address to deal with can't go online. Don't let MAC addresses become a stumbling block of your online life!

Get the Mac's Mac

For several machines, we can get MAC addresses like this: In Windows 98 / ME, click Start → "Run" → Enter "Winipcfg" → Enter.

In Windows 2000 / XP, click Start → "Run" → Enter "CMD" → Enter → Enter "IPConfig / All" → Enter. Get the MAC address for batch

IP and Mac bundle

The MAC address is the only identification of the NIC. This uniqueness brings the gospel to network management, because by bundling IP and MAC addresses, it is easy to prevent IP address phenomena in the LAN to prevent illegal intruders.

For dynamic IP, make a DHCP server to bind the user network card MAC address and IP address, then set permissions according to different IP; for static IP, if you use a three-layer switch, you can do ip on each port of the switch. The address is limited, so if the IP address of a client is changed, this PC will not connect to the network.

Take the binding of a static IP address as an example, realize the top of the above: Assume that the NIC MAC address is 44-45-53-54-00-00. Suppose we are in the Windows 98 operating system, type "ARP space-Space 192.168.0.66 spaces 44-45-53-54-00-00-00", enter. This enables the bundle of static IP address 192.168.0.66 and computer addresses 44-45-53-54-00-00, then let's take a look at the ARP common parameter table.

Special Tip: The ARP command is useful in the network of the network on the LAN, but also a static IP address. If you are a network administrator, you must use it to the MAC address and IP's binding, so you can put an end to many hidden dangers.

Mac's overhaul bigification

The MAC address is sacred and unable to violate! However, for friends who have replaced the new NIC, isn't it possible to use the original IP? There is still a way.

Take the commonly used Windows 2000 / XP as an example: First, click "Start" → "Run" → Enter "Regedit", open the Registry Editor, press Ctrl F to open the lookup window, enter "driverDesc" click OK .

Double-click the found content, which is a description of the network card you want to modify, and the left number list displays the current primary key (for example, 0000). Step 2, create a string value in the corresponding 0000, named networkaddress, key value to your MAC address, pay attention to continuously write, such as 112233445566. Step 3, restart your computer, you will find that the NIC MAC address has changed to the address you set. However, if you want to change the address frequently, it is really cumbersome. Don't worry, you will find that the MAC address will be so simple after the following two modifications! In the fourth step, add one of the NDI / params under the corresponding 0000, the primary key is NetWorkaddress, then add a string value named Default under the primary key, and its value is set to the MAC address you want, and also Write continuously. Step 5, continue to add a string called paramdesc under the NetworkAddress primary key, and its value can be set to "Mac Address". All settings are complete, turn off the registry, restart your computer, open the "Network Neighbor" property, select the appropriate NIC, click "Advance" tab, and you will have multiple Mac Address options in the property, that is In the second step of the next step in the registry, the networkAddress item added in the registry will be modified in the set value here. The modification method of Windows 9x is very similar, and we don't discuss this here.

I finally introduced the MAC address to everyone. It is worth reminding everyone that before modifying the Mac address, you must record the original address or back up the registry, otherwise it can only be reinstalled when the original address is required. For self-modifying the MAC address, the network administrator still has a way to detect. Therefore, don't forget to say hello to the network management.
