Microsoft Windows XP Fax Services provides a complete fax feature, including faxing, receiving, tracking, and monitoring. To use fax services, your computer must properly install the modem and connect the phone line, and then make the following software configuration.
Install a fax component
The fax is not installed by default during the Windows XP installation process. To install a fax, put your Windows XP CD into the drive, will appear as follows
Click on the second option "Install Optional Windows Components", the following dialog box appears
Select the fax service and click Next. Windows starts installing fax services
Finally, on the "Complete the 'Windows Component Wizard' screen, click Finish. You can also in the Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, open the Add or Remove Programs dialog. Click Add / Remove Windows Components to launch the Windows Component Wizard. Other steps are the same.
Configuring fax services
After installing the fax service, you need to configure the first startup 1. Click Start, select "Printer and Fax", as shown below
2. In the open dialog box, double-click the fax icon. The Fax Configuration Wizard will be started (if the modem is not installed, you may run the modem installation wizard first, here is omitted). 3. Click "Next" on the "Welcome Fax Configuration Wizard" screen, "Sender Information" window appears, type the information you want to display on the fax cover, and then click Next. 4. On the Select Fax Send or Receive Device screen, click the Modem and other options you want to use in the "Please select the Fax device" list, and then click Next.
5. Specify "Routing Options", select the printer or folder to receive the fax
6. Click Finch, you can start the Fax Console (Select the Configure Fax "command from the Fax Console's Tool menu to change the existing fax configuration).
After sending a fax installed a fax service, you can start the fax console to send a fax, or you can send a fax directly. As shown below
Thereafter, the transmission process can be completed in accordance with the wizard. During the sending fax, the Fax Monitor button displays the dial, response, and send state, etc., and display the result of the transmitted. If the send fails, re-send according to the specified settings.
Receive fax
You can set Windows XP automatic or manually receiving faxes. If you choose to manually receive a fax, a message balloon appears in the notification bar when you are in the phone, as shown below
After clicking, the fax monitor has been received; if you choose to automatically receive, you can specify the number of ringing, and the fax monitor will appear after the ringing and start accepting the fax.
Set the fax reception method as follows
1. Click Start, select "Printers and Fax" 2. Mail Click the fax icon in the open window, select Properties Command 3. Select "Device Tab", here you can view the FAM reception 4. Click the Properties button and select the "Receive" tab in the open dialog box.
Monitoring and Tracking Fax Enables the fax notification function of the local fax device to notify the fax event at work. Fax Notifications will track a variety of fax activities, including the progress of incoming and outgoing fax, and whether or not to transmit or receive failed or fail. The notification method is divided into two categories:
Visual notification, including icons in the notification area, balloon flags next to the icon, and "Fax Monitor". Audio notification. You can show the following fax events by playing sound:
