FreeBSD5.3 is not installed directly like 4x defaults, you need to choose to use SSHD service when installing. Or add sshd_enable = "yes" in /etc/rc.conf
If you use SecureCRT to connect with SSH2, you will be prompted to be Authenticate Using Any of The Configured Authentication Methods! Error, select Keyboard Interactive in the Authentication of the Connection Properties.
