I just attended a seminar about the code clone. It seemed the code clone problem can not be easily solved by refactoring due to different kinds of limitations. However, there are only two code clones in most time. That fact makes me a little doubtful about The useness of this research. Anyway, IT is always good to have solids such as ccfinder to solid this problex.
This topic is beyond my research. But the interesting thing is that I found the CCFinder was also from Osaca university of Japan. (It seems this university is very strong in software engineering field. Curious I never heard of it :-()
