How to enter Linux single user mode

One of the superior features of single user mode is that you don't have to use boot floppy disks or boot discs; however, it still gives you a file system to read-only mode or simply do not mount these two options.

In single user mode, your computer leads into the run level 1. Your local file system is mounted, but your network will not be activated. You have an available system maintenance shell. Unlike rescue mode, single user mode will automatically try to mount your file system; if your file system cannot be mounted successfully, do not use single user mode. If the configuration of the run level 1 on your system is damaged, you cannot use single user mode.

If your system is guided, but you don't allow you to log in after boot, you can try to use single user mode.

If you are using GRUB, use the following steps to boot the order user mode:

If you configure the GRUB password, type P and enter your password. Choose Red Hat Linux with the kernel version you want to boot, then type E to edit. You will see a list of projects in the configuration file used for the selected volume. Select a row that starts to KERNEL and type E to edit the line. Go to the tail, then type Single

[Space]

Key, then type Single). press

[Enter]

To exit the edit mode. After returning to the GRUB screen, type B to guide the inventory user mode.

If you are using Lilo, guided in LILO (if you are using graphical Lilo, you must press

[Ctrl]

-

[x]

To exit the graphical screen, enter the boot: prompt after you type:

Linux Single
