Today, I upgrade the Oracle database at the customer, 8174-> 9205.
The customer's environment is two Sun Fire V880, SUNOS 2.8 02.2, Sun Cluster 3.0 as HA.
Since the 02.2 version of the operating system is too low, you must first play the patch of the operating system before installing Oracle9205 Patch.
I have made myself once, but because I didn't finish all patches, the results caused the entire host to start normally.
So this time is Sun's engineer to operate, and all the entire operating system is all up to date.
There are some problems in the middle, and it is not one to describe it.
And the last problem is depressed for a long time.
My database upgrade process should belong to normal operation, I have not installed Oracle9i software on both nodes.
First install Oracle9201 on the A node, then upgrade to 9205, after the upgrade is completed, create a new database. After that, all Tar of the $ ORACLE_BASE entire directory is one file, ftp to the B node, and then expand at the B node.
After the upgrade is completed, there is no problem in starting the database separately in the two nodes.
But when adding a new resource group, a Validate Failed error appears, check the / var / adm / messege file of the B node, and finds the error information is the s bit Not set for the Oracle_Home / Bin / Oracle executable.
Know the reason for the problem, it is relatively simple to solve it.
CHMOD U S, G S $ Oracle_Home / Bin / Oracle
Then recreate the resource group of the Oracle database, OK.
But this is still a strange problem, because the tar command should keep all the permissions bits all right.
