Dialogue: Talking to India's large IT education training company CEO
The booming of the Indian software industry is the topic of the most Chinese software in the past few years. People are both excited, and how many are nervous attention to India. The rise of Indian software industry is already a genetic fact. What can I get from China? What did you learn?
Niit is the largest IT training structure in India, and is also a world-renowned IT education organization, with branches in 38 countries around the world, and teach hundreds of thousands of people to teach software development and management knowledge and technology. On December 3, Niit CEO Vijay Thadani visited Beijing, this issue interviewed Mr. Thadani on the concerns of Chinese programmers.
"Programmer": Mr. President, Hello. Can you tell us why niit is interested in China? Do you have any special mission this visit?
Thadani: In fact, NIIT has entered China in 1997. We have worked with China for a long time. We want to do something for the development of China's economy. We hope to play our own advantages in the cultivation of IT talents, do something contribution. Talent management is the premise of developing IT industries. First of all, there is a very solid foundation, and the IT industry can develop very well. We bring the experience of training in the global information technology to China. Our experience in the world is that only a lot of cultivation of talents, you can achieve development in terms of information. This is what we want to do in China in the past six years. Our goal is to cultivate young people, giving them certain skills and talents to enable them to play in the information industry.
Below I want to talk about my personal task. I have been visiting China as a representative of the Indian Industrial Federation, hoping to strengthen industrial and trade cooperation between China and India. In a sense, this is part of the exchange plan determined when we meet the prime minister of our two countries. Niit has some experience in China, so I am visiting China from other Indian companies to discuss the possibility of industrial cooperation between the two countries. For an allegation, I just like an ambassador in the Indian industry.
"Programmer": Many Indian software outsourcing service industries have entered China to expand their business, such as companies like Tata. Do you think Indian software companies enter China, what is the purpose? What should I pay attention to?
Thadani: Tata is the largest software development company in India. It enters China. On the one hand, it is to meet the needs of China's local in this regard; the second aspect is to transfer Europe and Japan's business to China. Niit is the largest IT training company in India, Tata is the largest software development company in India. Niit and Tata are the largest companies in India, they entered China to achieve the greatest business, providing the best service. Niit taught himself to China's experience to India. We think that all business in China is very slow, you need to be very patient, Niit has only developed several training points in the first four years in China, and we have developed more than one hundred training stations in the next three years. . China's customers pay attention to the results, they clearly know what they need, and also know the standard.
"Programmer": Many Chinese software companies want to cooperate with Indian companies to cooperate out. In this regard, what help can NIIT?
Thadani: If China's software company wants to cooperate with India, India's ability to examine the capacity of this company. Niit's training has a good reputation in India, one-third of Indian developers receive Niit training. So NiIT will receive trust in Indian software companies. If a Chinese software company has three hundred NIIT graduates, Indian companies understand and trust the company's ability.
"Programmer": Not long ago, I saw a report, PAUL, vice chairman of India Wipro said that the future of the software industry will be, the Americans run sales, Indians do projects, Vietnamese people write code. Do you agree with this statement? Where is China's location? Thadani: I know Paul, but I don't know what happened to say this. I think he must have a no heart to miss China. Please believe that the people in our Indian software industry attaches great importance to China. We believe that China will play with our India in the future software industry. I want to believe in China and India, I can do very well in software engineering. This market is large enough to accommodate our two countries. As you mentioned in Vietnam, Vietnam's software industry has developed very fast, and the cost is lower, so I also look at Vietnam. China has its own strength, India also has its own advantages, we are complementary, if it can be combined from these two aspects, it will become very powerful. China software is very personal, such as the game, developing is quite good. India specializes in the development of commercial system software. Therefore, if we cooperate, these two aspects can help each other.
"Programmer": Just now, Niit puts forward a series of training programs in China, including some training inside the school, how does Niit launched students in China, or training courses in Chinese?
Thadani: Niit Education provides two ways in China, a kind of training center in our own training center, and the other is to put our course in the university, and this method is currently implemented in 25 colleges. In fact, NiIT's courses have been widely recognized by the industrial community. If students learn Niit, they can accommodate the requirements of the industry. At the same time, Niit is also interacting with the industry. I know what kind of people they need, then go to this aspect to cultivate students.
"Programmer": I used to be a programmer, I think the Chinese programmer is different from the Indian programmer. Chinese programmers are more impetuous, I hope to get a rapid promotion, I hope to make a lot of money soon. Indian programmers seem to be more patience, is it?
Thadani: I don't agree with this statement. Indian programmers are equally impatched, and they also want to earn a lot of money quickly, get improvement. Programmers in the world are the same in this regard. Everyone wants to climb steps step by step, it is hoped to be on the peak. But there is a bit different between us, what is the difference? I think we are at different stages. Chinese programmers use procedures as an art, and the procedures they develop are the best and cannot be discussed. Just like painting, you can't say that a line must draw this. That's right, the software is art, but software development has reached this stage and must have norms and discipline. Otherwise, you have your art, I have my art, can you combine? It is very problematic. This is a disciplined, normative thing. At this point, India is doing very well. You know, now India's large software companies have passed CMM5 almost all colors, which is great. This has a considerable relationship with the basic training provided by NIIT in India. As far as we know, China is not too strong in this regard. Our upcoming ASPM courses are hoping to teach this experience to China.
"Programmer": Simple question, now Niit does the Indian all the business have been moved to China?
Thadani: All business provided in India can come to China, but it is not really coming, but it depends on the needs of cooperation in China. In other words, it is to say that NiIT will be 100% of China.
"Programmer": There are two directions in the US software industry in Europe and the United States. One is to India, one is to China, please comment, what is the advantage of China India? Who will be in the upper wind in the competition? Thadani: Whether India or China can get a lot from the transfer of software industries. I think India will get more advantages in commercial applications, and China will get more advantages in game software. We can learn from each other. India and China's population add up more than one-third of the world's population. I believe that we will get more than one-third of software business in the future.
"Programmer": China's software companies seem to be very successful in developing universal software. Do you think China's software is also like India, or will still take other routes? What direction will be developed in the future?
Thadani: China's basic construction is very large, so the needs of local native is very strong. I think China's software companies should pay great attention very much. The scale of this business is sufficient to support the development of the Chinese software industry.
"Programmer": 2005 is coming soon, in the new year, what is important plan?
Thadani: Many Indian companies want to cooperate with China, but the partnership of culture has caused obstacles. We have some experience in China that can introduce China to these companies, telling them how to carry out business in China. Previously, our main business in China is to carry out IT training in college undergraduate levels, and we will immediately carry out higher level training programs. Niit is CMM5 company, we have summarized software project management experience and launched advanced software project management (ASPM) courses. From the situation we understand, this is a great significance for China's software industry. China is ambitious in the field of software industry and must reach advanced standards in software project management. At the same time, we have to expand down to meet the needs of middle school students' IT education. Niit has been training more than 3,000 children around the world. We certainly hope that this experience will be provided to China's middle school students, which is our two clear directions in 2005.
