installation method

0) Install CXTERM, this package uses the DICT directory in CXTERM
Get the Chinese word library http://ftp.ihep.ac.cn/
1) Unpack
gzip -d chinput1.5.tar.gz
Tar xvf chinput1.5.tar
2) Set an environment variable
CSH:
Stenv chinputHome /Path/to/the/directory/of/chinput1.5sh:
Export chinputhome = / path / to / the / directory / of / chinput1.5
3) Put the chinput.ad in the installation directory to the user directory and modify the corresponding settings
(Note Set Home Environment Variables)
4) Add the chinput1.5 / bin path to the PATH variable
Instructions

1) Start chinput
CHINPUT input method is similar to CXTERM
* Mouse left button to drag the input strip
* Point green button close
* Drop button to browse and enter
2) Start application, such as
Run xterm -fn 8x16 &
Run Netscape &
* CTRL button or Ctrl-Space display / hidden input strip
* F1 Enter Chinese characters / input in English
* F3 changes the length of the input strip
* Other F keys / shift-f keys change input method
3) Operation in operation
Press the Shift key and the right button to select the pop-up menu configuration, including coding control.
You can choose from GB, BIG5, Japanese, Korean and other options, please refer to the author homepage
4) Use screen scratches
Startup edict
Press the Alt key and move the mouse on the word, explain the word popped up with yellow strip
Click the yellow strike.

> How to enter Chinese in the shell?

Linux has a variety of support, but mainly a variety of European texts, if it is not clear, it is default to ASCII. ASCII is 7-bit encoding. When you encounter an unprintable character OD, you can output a backslash to an eight-grade number. To use cxterm to engage in Chinese You must let other applications understand that it is not processing the ASCII code. The method is:
1. Set the environment variable lang to represent Chinese. Although Linux's Locale is currently not a good Chinese support, it is at least understand not ASCII. 2, set the environment variable Lesscharset to Latin1. This makes the LESS program into 8-bit transparency and can display Chinese.
You set the lang to DE and then a file to you have no permissions to see, it will tell you German dialect. :-) One day it will tell you Chinese, if you say that LANG is zh. (Currently Will not) |

Note: As for the Chinese, I usually use Joe -as FileName or JSTAR (pointing to Joe) because Joe's hotkey is the same as WordStar / WPS, I am more familiar. Of course, Emacs also has a Chinese supported MULE, as well as Chinese VI, PINE PICO can also support 8Bit code. In addition, using LS -N can see the Chinese file name, but the NLS_ISO8859_1.O module has been loaded, I estimate that a nls_cp936.o is needed to support the Chinese character set in the FAT, who will write one? By the way, if you don't display it correctly when you use Telnet, you can use Telnet -8 bbs.xxx.xxx or to connect to the BBS site after telnet.
