What is RSS
At any time, people have now become accustomed to accessing the information you want through the channel! We can understand the most instant news of the world without leaving home, you can also find the latest technology dynamics in the library ...
Today, information on the Internet has grown more and more comprehensive with the popularity of the Internet. The Internet is getting more and more like a huge encyclopedia, and it is still growing, constantly rich! This is more satisfied with our more diversified needs, but there is an important issue, and people have to find more and more difficult to find information on the Internet. Although now, many search engines provide more and more powerful search capabilities, I hope that people can find more suitable content, but in the face of the Internet content explosion, the functions of search engines are still as pale!
First, what is RSS?
Maybe everyone is the first time I heard the concept of RSS, what is RSS? RSS is an easy way (also called aggregated content), usually used in news and other websites, such as BLOG. The introduction of a project may contain all the introduction of the news. Or just additional content or short introduction. The links of these items are usually linked to all content. Network users can read the website content that supports RSS output without opening the website content page with the client's news aggregation tool software that supports RSS.
To be more simple, RSS is an XML format used to distribute and bring web content! If you still don't quite understand, there is no relationship, and RSS is in fact, it is not important. It is important that RSS can do. Let's take a look, RSS can bring us?
tips
Blog: Blog is the abbreviation of web logs. In China, people usually call it a blog. It is an intermediary with readers to interact with a diary style. In the software community, people have become more popular with the blog form and thoughts, and people began to learn from each other in the form of blogs. The blog has become a place of technology exchange! Such as: http://blogs.msdn.com is a blogging on the MSDN. And China's blog China is also more famous. Http://www.blogchina.com.
XML: XML is an extensible Markup Language, an extensibility identifier language.
Second, what can RSS do?
1. Subscribe to blog (on Blog, you can subscribe to the technical articles you need in your work; you can also subscribe to the logs with the author of the author of the same hobbies, in short, your blog you can book, what you can book?
2. Subscribe to the news (whether aely strange, star news, sportswear, as long as you want to know, you can subscribe)
You don't have a website, a web page, a web page. As long as this will subscribe you need to subscribe in an RSS reader, you will automatically appear in your reader, you don't have to refresh the webpage for a news that is eager to know, because once there is an update, RSS Readers will notify you yourself!
Third, RSS reader
Currently, the RSS reader can be basically divided into two categories.
The first class most readers are single-machine applications running on the computer desktop, which can be updated automatically and timedically through the news supplies in the subscribers and blogs (Blog). In this reading, there are free trials and paid advanced editions, in addition, Xinhuanet has also launched an RSS reader without long ago. It is completely a Chinese interface, and is currently completely free! (Later, we will use this software as an example to introduce how to use RSS readers) The second type of news reader is usually embedded in applications that have been run in the computer. For example, Newsgator is embedded in Microsoft's Outlook, and the subsequent news header is located in the Outlook's inbox folder. In addition, PLUCK is embedded in the Internet Explorer browser! Fourth, know RSS
The following is to let everyone know more about RSS, if you are not interested, you can't see it, it will not have much impact on you to use RSS reading.
1.Feed
The blog provides a summary in the form of RSS documentation, which can be obtained by well known URL. The RSS document is an XML file that contains a lot of discrete news items, such as entry items in a blog. Since RSS is an XML format file, it is easy to be used by other programs.
The RSS aggregator is a program that reads the RSS document and displays the news item. Most aggregators use the URL of the RSS to make the predetermined summary possible.
RSS makes reading blogs easily. Most developers who often read blogs use some type of aggregator to help them filter the summary content. The aggregator makes the feeling of reading blogs are like reading emails because they highlight the news item and buffer the news item to read it offline.
There are also some online RSS aggregators to take RSS to bundle to a separate website. Its advantage is that it is easy to set up and you can access your feedn content from any computer. Of course, its disadvantages are also obvious, that is, it must always be connected when reading.
RSS is the glory of a strong new information exchange form. Before the server appears, most developers usually spend a lot of time to filter off those who are unrelated.
The blog passed the control to the reader by letting the reader chooses the summary to read.
2.RSS version
The RSS version has many, 0.90, 0.91, 0.92, 0.93, 0.94, 1.0 and 2.0. To understand them need to know some historical backgrounds concerning them. Initially Netscape created the initial version of RSS 0.90, the initial name is "RDF Site Summary" or "Rich Site Summary" (in the specification, the former is a formal name). Netscape created RSS0.90 for its web portal, this time, others saw the RSS's use potential. Userland Software is one of the first one who started RSS for its network of business products. Version 0.90 is largely W3C-based Resource Description Framework (RDF). Many people think that RDF is too complicated, so it is recommended a free simplified version 0.91. This task gives Userland Software. Userland Software continues to develop the simplified version of RSS, and the released versions include: 0.92, 0.93 and 0.94. In order to emphasize its simplified work, they set the full name of the RSS as "Really Simple Syndication".
Just when Userland Software continues to focus on its simplified work, another group of developers are revive the initial RDF version (0.90) because RSS is more flexible. They finally released a version of RSS 1.0, its official name or "RDF Site Summary". Due to the use of RDF, this version is completely different from the version controlled by the USERland Software. Userland Software, is certainly not willing to see RSS 1.0 seems to replace its 0.94 version of the facts, so I have a new version, and jump the version number to 2.0. This is this situation today, forming two major competitive versions: a RDF1.0, and the other is 2.0 developed by the userland Software, since they share the same name. It is a terrible confusion because the version number has caused people to think that 2.0 is 1.0 is 1.0 improved version, and in fact they are completely different from two goals. Now, another group of developers have worked hard to solve this chaotic problem, by defining a new summary specification, the randomity of the RSS name. This solution is called Atom (atom) project.
3.atom (atom)
Atom is a project name, mainly developing a new blog summary format to solve the problem of current RSS existence (confusing version number, not a real open standard, indicating inconsistency, defining poverty, etc.). Atom hopes to provide a clear version to solve everyone's needs, and its design is completely not dependent on the supplier, anyone can freely expand it, complete detailed description.
In addition to defining new summary formats, Atom also wants to define a standard file format and a standard blog editing API (Atom API).
In fact, the core information contained in the RSS1.0 and 2.0 format is the same, but the structure is not the same, here we no longer continue to discuss this problem, interested friends can go to the blog China to learn about relevant knowledge!
4.blogroll
Blogroll is a collection of books in the blog page, and most blogs offer blogroll on their personal pages. This allows the reader to connect to a web page of other fun and writing styles. Blogroll is convenient for communication on the network. By using Outline Processor Markup Language (OPML), people can exchange blogroll with XML format files.
Most serve engines manage blogroll whenever they request blogroll to generate the corresponding XML format. Similarly, most of the aggregators (RSS readers) can import blogroll and automatically book the summary included. V. Use of RSS readers
Here, we chose a Chinese RSS reader to introduce you how to make yourself using RSS. (Generally, most RSS reading requirements must have been installed in Microsoft .NET Framework in your computer before installation.
