For a long time, since the company's Exchange Server closes anonymous to send mail's features, our deployed SharePoint and Project Server's ability to depends on the function of anonymous SMTP server. I don't quite understand, Microsoft thinks about it when designing these systems, but this does let us lose a very important function, so some of our departments have complained. So, I always want to solve this problem.
I have wanted to use the SMTP to SMTP with Windows to solve this problem. Network Engineers Specify SMTP on the Exchange Server to relate to the email to Exchange Server. I set the SMTP server on SharePoint as my own server, and my SMTP server allows anonymous to send mail. Then, my SMTP server will relapse the received email to Exchange Server (of course, you have to authenticate). However, it is not successful. I carefully analyze SMTP logs. Most of the reasons are empty because of empty from the FROM, and Exchange Server does not allow the name of the email, so it will forward unsuccessful. I don't quite understand why this is. I hope some experience can be shared.
Here I want to share with you is the success of using third-party SMTP server software.
1, ready to work
I stopped the SMTP service you bring. Network engineers allow my server to transfer emails in Exchange Server.
2, install the software
I used this time that url ocloud.software.mail.direct.pro.v2.1.5.0. After installation, set DNS according to the setup wizard information, of course, DNS inside the company, and then set forwarding servers. This software allows you to specify the user and password used to verify when setting the forwarding server, and support NTLM authentication. I specify that all messages sent to the corporate domain are forwarded to Exchange Server.
3, set SharePoint
Set the Sahrepoint's mail server address to my own just settled server, pay attention to the send address and reply address to write the mail address of the user used to forward in the SMTP server.
In this way, the subscribed email can be sent to the subscriber's mailbox.
4. Different emails need different forwarding accounts
When you create a user, SharePoint will automatically send an email to the user, but after this setting, I found that this email is unsuccessful. I have viewed the log. It turns out that the mail address of the email sent is the email address of the operator (ie, the administrator) instead of the mail address used in the SharePoint SMTP server setting, so it is not successful. So, I added a forwarding server, server address or address of Exchange Server in Mail DRIECT Pro, but this user I wrote into my account (this account is also SharePoint Owner), tried, OK, success. Isn't it necessary to create a forward mail server for all administrators? I have let other administrators tried it, and there is no problem (this is more confusion). Is it necessary to set an email using a account with SharePoint Owner. At least, I think now.
If you are confused by this problem a long time, try it now.
