Signaling is a process for ATM users and network switched control information, requesting network resource usage or negotiation circuit parameters. Q.2931 Based on the Q.931, it is the ITU version of the signaling protocol. It defines the process of establishing, maintaining, and releases network connections on the B-ISDN user network interface. UNI 3.1 is established based on Q.2931, which is defined according to the type of information.
Q.2931 The basic capabilities of signaling support are as follows:
Channel connection requirements (exchange virtual); point-to-point switching channel connection; symmetric or asymmetric bandwidth connection; single connection (point-to-point) call; protocol information, information element, and procedure basic signaling function; X class, Class A and Class CATM transmission Service; request and instructions of signaling parameters; support for VPI / VCI negotiation; all signaling messages are transmitted on the specified out-of-band channel; error recovery; uniquely identify the endpoint of the ATM with public UNI addressing mode; support end-to-end Identification of compatibility parameters; N-ISDN signaling network and N-ISDN service regulations; forward compatibility.
