FORESTPREP
Exchange 2003 ForestPrep is used to extend the Active Directory schema to include Exchange unique classes and properties. ForestPrep also creates container objects for Exchange 2003 organizations in Active Directory. The architecture extension provided by Exchange 2003 is a supercoming of the architecture extension provided by Exchange 2000. Even if Exchange 2000 Forestprep has already run, you still have to run Exchange 2003 ForestPrep again.
2. DomainPrep
After running ForestPrep and completes replication, you must run Exchange 2003 DomainPrep. DomainPrep is used to create groups and privileges necessary when reading and modify user properties. Exchange 2003 version of DomainPrep will do the following in the domain: • Create an Exchange Domain Servers and Exchange Enterprise Servers group. • Set your global Exchange Domain Servers group to the Exchange Enterprise Servers local group. • Create an Exchange System Object container that is used to store public folders that have enabled mail. • Set the permissions of the Exchange Enterprise Servers group on the root location of the domain to make the recipient update service with the correct permissions to process the recipient object. • Modify Windows for the AdminsDholder template for membership for members of the local Domain Administrator group. • Add your local Exchange Domain Servers group to the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access group. • Check before installation of the installer.
Accounts for running DomainPrep must be members of the Domain Administrators group in the local domain and local computer administrators.
