Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) is a protocol for issuing, query, repair, and recording of news articles by using reliable servers - client flow modes (such as TCP / IP port 119). With NNTP, news articles only need to be stored on one server host, while subscribers located on other network hosts read from news articles by using connection news hosts. NNTP has established a technical foundation for the wide application of newsgroups.
NNTP imitates the world's newsgroup network system (USENET news system), but NNTP has only rare requirements for the structure, content and storage of news articles. Therefore, it is easy to adopt other non-USENET systems. Using NNTP, for exchange news articles, the host uses direct communication methods to decide which articles need to be transmitted.
