First, about the router
Router (ROUTE) is a system responsible for finding the diameter, providing a network path to the user from the minimum amount of communication from multiple paths in the interconnected network. It uses the path finding protocol to obtain network information, and uses a "find matrix" to select the optimal path. According to the OSI reference model, the router is a network layer system. The router is divided into single-protocol router and multi-protocol router.
Suppose there is now some of the network segment 1 "192.168.1.n" (received from HUB1) and network segment 2 "192.168.2.n" (received Hub2) two network segments, which are connected to two hubs (HUB), And the two HUBs are directly connected to each other. Now require two network segments to ping each other and can be visited through "online neighbors".
Because the router is high, it is fully able to use two network cards to implement the function of the network card by using the "Routing and Dial-up" service that comes with Win2K.
Second, network hardware connection
1. Make sure the computers in the "192.168.1.n" network are connected to HUB1; "192.168.2.N" network segment has been connected to HUB2; then use a twisted pair Hub1 Connect with HUB2.
2, make sure the Win2K server has installed two network cards, connect HUB1 and NIC 1 (any one) with twisted pair; use another twisted pair to connect Hub2 and NIC 2 (another network card) stand up.
Third, TCP / IP property settings
1. In the Win2K server, open the "Network and Dial-up Connections" in the Control Panel. If the two network cards have been successfully installed, they can see two "local connections". Next, right-click on the NIC 1, select "Properties" to open the property settings window for this local connection.
2. Connect to the "General" item in the local connection property setting window, then double-click the Internet Protocol (TCP / IP "in its component list to enter the TCP / IP property setting window.
3, join the previous step, select "Use the IP address below" in the TCP / IP Property setting window, and then enter "192.168.1.1" in its "IP address", "subnet mask" is "255.255. 255.0 ", other projects do not have to fill," Determine "directly.
4. After the above steps, the network card 1 is bound to the IP address "192.168.1.1"; it will also be the default gateway address of the network segment 1 client.
5, use the same method to bind the IP address "192.168.2.1"; it will also be the default gateway address of the network segment 2 client.
6, then set all the clients to set their default gateway address and default DNS server address as the gateway address within this network (that is, the IP address bound to the Win2k network card) .
Fourth, configure Win2K router
1. In the Win2K server, select "Programs → Administration Tools → Routing and Remote Access" in the Start menu, you can enter the router's configuration main window. However, by default, "server status" will still "unconfigure".
2. Right-click on the "SERVER" in the left "Tree" column on the left side of the main window, select "Configure and Enable Routing and Remote Access" to open the installation wizard of this service. 3. In the installation wizard, when "public setting" appears, click "Network Router" and "Next".
4, next to the protocol required to select the route, at this time, at least "TCP / IP" one should have at least "TCP / IP", direct click "Yes, all available protocols are" re-"on the list" Next "Continue.
5. At this time, the system is inquiry: "Do you want to access the remote network by requesting dialing?" Since this office does not need to access the remote network through the dial, click "No" to "Next" to complete the router configuration work ! In the main window of "Routing and Remote Access", you can see that the relevant operation has been completed.
6, do not need to restart your computer, you can use its network card routing!
V. actual connection effect
1. In any of a computer in any of the network segments, you can ping through the network segment, and another network segment also has the IP address of all computers in the Win2K server!
2. Open any computer "Online Neighbors", you can also see that all the names of all computers have been added to the list! Double-click the computer name to access the resources you share.
