How to use Win2000 to implement two network segments
When there are two or more network segments in a local area network, the hosts in different network segments are unacceptable to each other. In order to solve this problem, a router must be set between different network segments. If you spend more than 10,000 yuan to buy a router, just two network segments in the LAN, it is not worth it. In fact, we can use soft routing in Windows 2000:
Soft route preparation before installation:
1. Install Windows 2000 Server in a computer that wants to set to soft routing.
2, install two network cards in a computer that wants to set it to soft routing.
3. Install the TCP / IP protocol in a computer that wants to set to soft routing, and configure IP address information for two network cards (for example, 192.168.1/2555.255.0 and 10.0.0.1/255.0.0.0) to make two pieces. The NIC is in two different IP network segments, respectively.
Soft route installation steps:
Log in as a domain user administrator and perform the following operations.
1. Click Start / Program / Administration Tools / Route and Remote Access to open the Routing and Remote Access window.
2. Click the "Operation" menu, select Configure and Enable Routing and Remote Access commands, run the Routing and Remote Access Server Installation Wizard, click [Next].
3. Since the router is to be installed here, select the Network Router option and click [Next].
4, usually, only TCP / IP protocols and NetBeui protocols are installed in the local area network computer, and only the TCP / IP protocol has routing functions. The AppleTalk protocol is only used in communication between Apple. Since the TCP / IP protocol is already displayed in the Protocol list, select "Yes, all available protocols are on the list" option, and click [Next].

Soft route setting:
1. Click Start / Program / Administration Tools / Route and Remote Access to open the Routing and Remote Access window.
2. Right-click the server name to enable the route, then click Properties, and Display the Properties dialog.
3. On the General tab, select the Router check box, and select "Only for the LAN (LAN) Routing option, click [OK].
4, in the Routing and Remote Access window, open the left directory tree "IP Routing", right-click "General", and select "New Routing Agreement" in the shortcut menu to display the "New Routing Agreement" conversation frame.
5. Select "RIP version 2 for Internet Protocol" in the Routing Protocol list, and click [OK]. Note that the RIP protocol is recommended in the small and medium network, select the OSPF protocol in large networks.
6. Right-click "RIP" in the directory tree, and select "New Interface" in the shortcut menu to display the "New Interface" dialog box for Internet protocols.
7. Select the first network interface in the Interface list box, "Local Connect", click [OK], and Display the RIP Properties dialog.
8, the RIP property takes the system default value, click [OK].
9. Repeat the above 6 to 8 operation, add a second network interface to RIP, ie "local connection 2".
Client configuration
If you want to implement the interviews between the computers between 192.168.1.0 and 10.0.0.0 two IP address segments, after installing and setting the IP route, you must also make the corresponding settings. For the computer in the 192.168.1.0 address segment, it is necessary to set its default gateway to 192.168.1.1, and for the computer in the 10.0.0.0 address segment, it is necessary to set its default gateway to 10.0.0.0.1.
The setting method is as follows:
1. Open "Start / Control Panel / Network" in turn to open the Network dialog.
2. In the "Configuration" tab "The following Network Components" list, select the device listed in "TCP / IP", click the [Properties] button to display the TCP / IP Properties dialog.
3. Select the Gateway tab to type "192.168.1.1" in the "New Gateway" dialog (if the IP address is between 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.1.255) or "10.0.0.1" (if the IP address is located at 10.0 .0.0 ~ 10..255.255.255 Between 555.255, click [Add].
4. Click [OK] to complete the gateway settings, and restart your computer based on the system prompt. "
