From the hard disk to the keyboard, all computers need to be cleaned up frequently. In the first part of this topic, we consider how to clean your software from the perspective of software to ensure that the software in your computer is clean.
Generally speaking, Windows installation is in line with the second law of thermodynamics. After a while, the digital entropy began to play its role. The file becomes bracked, and the garbage gradually increases, and many software cannot work properly. The temporary file is permanently rested in the folder, and many software you have uninstalled still appears in the Add, Delete List.
The traditional solution is to abolish the operating system, which is to delete an existing Windows operating system and format the partition, and then reinstall a new operating system. This is a small workload involving a lot of backups for previously working, a large number of reinstalling applications and drivers, updates, and reset.
Here, we will introduce some ways to clean up the personal computer relative to relatively painful. First, we will delete malicious code: Even the most sophisticated users may become victims of malware, these malware can slow the running speed of the system, and will also disclose confidential.
Then we will delete some files that are useless, and thus can retrieve a few hundred megabytes of disk space. In the second part, we consider how to remove items that are useless in the launch folder and tell you how to delete garbage in the registry. At the same time, we will introduce you to some applications for cleaning up a personal computer. Finally, we will introduce you to how to achieve physical cleaning of personal computers.
Who is sicking you? First, let us start from clearing those who are unwelcome. Our assumption is that you have a virus detection software and have been updating the software (if this is not the case, there may be some problems with further cleanup work). But there are still many other malware, because they have not been treated as a virus, so these software may have full of your hard drive, seize your processor processing cycle and bandwidth, making your computer browsing The speed of the unit slows down.
From the surface, advertising is very straightforward for the computer's impact. You may download some "free" software with Banner ads. This is a business model, we see this model is very good in broadcast or free newspapers.
However, it looks like this. But you will find some changes in the content of the advertising, you need to spend your connection time every time you download new content. In addition, advertisements are often spyware (they will record the number of advertisements you click and login, and these click information will be sent to the advertising producer).
Foistware will insert your own advertisement in the web page, which makes it through your browser, which seems to be added by the site administrator from the website. Hijackware will embed them into your browser in a way that illegally tampered with search engines. Diallers Change your Internet connection, turn the dial-up call from your usage ISP dial-up connection to its own ISP (this steering cost is very expensive).
Even the most abundant online surfers may be infected, very fortunate is, there are still many "good people" to help you remove these malware around you. For personal users, LavaSoft's ad-aware is free, which can scan memory, registry, and viruses in the drive. This software is easy to use and is more secure, because this software can "isolate" instead of "delete" suspicious projects.
However, its enhanced version is not free, and the enhancement version adds real-time protection to prevent the known virus software. Both versions contain automatic updates.
Spybot - Search and Destroy produced by independent anti-spyware producers, SPYBOT - Search and Destroy is also a free software, and this software also contains some other useful items, such as the Secure Shredder item for deleting files to prevent recovery of files; An immune function is prevented from further re-infection, and the tool to open the browser and the registry editor, using the tool to see where those malicious projects are located. In comparison, although Spybot software may have some wrong confirmation, we found that Spybot is more advantageous than Ad-Aware. However, using Ad-Aware, you can ensure that these spyware cannot modify the registry or file system.
After useless, it cleales software that may damage computer performance, let us now turn to clean up the useless software. Although we encourage you to use disk fragmentation procedures to clean up your hard drive, but still leave some cleaning and useless things during the cleaning process. On the entire disk, you may be full of documents, which occupy a lot of disk space, just like the abandoned car on the streets of the city.
In Windows 98 and later, you can implement disk finishing work for you through Windows "Disk Soligibility" tool. You can find this tool by clicking the "General" tab in the "Properties" dialog box of the drive.
You can also achieve this job through other software, but because they are all in the same location, it is very convenient to use. Windows 98 users can empty the recycle bin, delete the INTERNET temporary file and temporary folder and can delete "Download Programs Files" (these programs such as Java applets and ActiveX controls are downloaded from the website. Run on the PC).
Windows's "Disk Soligibility" tool is quite conservative: for example, it does not delete temporary files within a week. And sometimes some files will remain in the "Temporary" folder, which is obviously "Disk Squire" tools that have not found or delete these files.
Although some temporary files (such as temporary files related to a installation process) may be used in the next startup, these files do not seem to exist, because these files are not created by the current session, so After restarting, it is still worth checking the "temporary" folder. As an additional security, Windows does not allow you to delete the temporary file currently being used.
The "Disk Sariers" tool for Windows ME has another three features. Although two of these three functions - "Temporary Health Files" and "Application Debugging Information" appear in the primary list, the third function is located in "More Options tab. Other Windows versions are associated with "Delete Applications or Windows Components" in Control Panel (these two practices have their own truth).
Windows Me also has a link to the sub-file system in the system properties, allowing you to change the space size assigned to system recovery. Typical ME installations may have 10 or more recovery points, which can be restored to installation status before several weeks. By default, Windows uses 12% of space in each partition for system recovery.
The size of the restricted space (minimum is 200 triggered) allows the system to release the corresponding disk space and can delete the oldest recovery point. Windows XP has more items in the primary list (such as index files and ancient Chkdsk programs), but there is essentially in the "More Options" tab. The "System Recovery" option here is quite strict, because it is deleted by the system other than the last recovery point in addition to the last recovery point. If you want to change the size of the system to restore, you can implement your thoughts in the setup link in the System Recovery window.
The software hidden in the system is as seen earlier, and Windows's "Disk Soligibility" tool sometimes does not perform its own duties. Another way to implement is to use IE options to delete those legacy Internet temporary files.
A tips worth a try: Turk the "Delete Offline Content" option (assuming that you don't have any offline content you need to save), so that the system can delete the useless temporary files. In addition, there are many "disk finishing" tools that cannot be found, so it is necessary to make a comprehensive large cleaning on the file system.
First, make sure you can see all files and folders on the disk. Open your browser to select the Tool or View menu (depending on the version of IE) and click "Folder Selection". Check if Windows displays system files and folders and hidden files and folders, and check if the system displays the extension of the file. Below you need to have a way to view files and folders due to use of Windows.
For Windows ME, NT, 98, and 95, they use old-fashioned file managers. You can type "Winfile.exe" in the "Start" menu "Run" window to drive them. In addition to NT versions, the program cannot display long files and folder names, for example, "Program files" here will appear in "progra ~ 1".
Of course, this display method cannot block your advancement, but if you think this limit makes you feel bored, there is another shared software (this software has a very simply name FMLFNS) to let you in the file manager It is easy to use long file names.
There is no WINFILE in Windows XP and 2000, but if you can get a copy of the NT version, you can also achieve your purpose. As another choice (also for all Windows versions), there are many shared software and free software that can be used as selection.
A commonly used also the most popular software is Treesize Pro, which will view the contents contained in your hard disk or folder in a variety of different ways, including pie chart, column map, according to file size Method listing files or listed in a percentage list. For those who pay attention to software, this is an essential tool, but the registration needs to spend $ 35 (£ 25).
Whether it is Winfile, or Treesize Pro, what they do is just what is displayed in your folder. For example, if you use a browser to view the Internet temporary file (TIF), you may find a lot of cookies and other files. But if you use Winfile to view the folder, you will find the true location of these cookies, and you will find a multi-layer subfolder in the TIF folder (these subfolders may have four layers or more. Layer folder), and there are many files that have actually caching but the name but "not very reasonable" in these subfolders. If you have already emptied TIF folders, you can still see files at this moment, then you can delete these files. However, this is often an indication of other problems, such as destruction of the index.dat file. So a better plan is to delete the entire TIF folder, and Windows recreates a new folder when starting.
There is still other temporary files on your hard drive, which is worth you to investigate. Use "Temp" as all or part of the file name, use "Folder" as a file type to search all files or folders. Although you will get some wrong confirmation such as "Templates", there is no doubt that you will find more actual interim folders.
On a Windows XP with four users, we found 47 folders, which are common, and most of them contain some garbage such as residues installed.
Another place to waste disk space is some major files, over time, you can't find how these files are generated, such as "back" to the previous Windows system left. Windows search or find the function of the Find files here again reflect its use. For example, set the file name and content empty, and "Size" is set to "at least" 10,000kb in the "Advanced" option below. You will be surprised to find a lot of things this time.
TREESIZE PRO is also very useful in displaying something that occupies disk space, but you can try it for a try to use the best way (this is a free software developed by Eindhoven University). Folders and files are expressed by rectangular nested or using the technical term (Squarified Cushion Treemaps), so you can immediately know what is the disk space, whether you look at the folder or drive. Move your mouse on these rectangles, you will clearly tell you the number of folders and display the details of the file in the status bar.
We mentioned the old CHKDSK program in front. When running Scandisk (or after a normal shutdown, Windows is automatically running the program), this program will fix the file fragment and save the "lost cluster" and saved the file extension is .chk.
Although after a system crashes, you may find some missing text in these files, but they don't have any other useful features, which often be placed in the root directory of the drive C:. XP creates a different "found" folder for these "found" files, as seen earlier, XP also provides these file features in the "Disk Sariers" tool. But in any case, the best way is to search and delete .chk files.
File copies may also waste disk space, when you intend to move a file, it is the most prone to exactly the same file. There are many tools to search for files in the system, but use these tools is very careful, because many system files may be copied multiple times due to various reasons. For example, XP maintains a DLL cache folder, which contains a backup copy of the key system file and the last configured configuration folder, using this folder to help you recover your system from your disaster, these two folders They all contain exactly the same copy, but these two folders should be retained. Zero-length files sound seem to be contradictory, but they do exist and may cause a lot of problems. Machine Debug Manager may leave hundreds of lengths of files in the Windows folder, each file's name is headed by "FFF ...", although most of them are harmless but annoying .
Unless you really need to use the debug manager (the program is generated by the Office 2000 script editor, its name is MDM.exe), otherwise you can close it from the "start" of Msconfig. In addition, you also need to check if the "Disable Script Debug" option has been hooked in the "Advanced" option of the Internet Properties. Then you can delete all "fff ..." files. The more annoying length of zero is an OEM * .inf file in the Windows / INF folder.
The number of these files may reach thousands, according to Microsoft, "If the current disk tool program has a capacity limit on the drive," these files can be prevented from being installed through "Windows Update, Internet Browser Settings ..." Or trigger the corresponding software or drive. You can also delete these files.
After completing these operations, a further file system cleanup work is largely cleaning work, completely by personal preferences - you might want to uninstall the programs you have never used, or Windows components. Clear font file, etc.
One thing we should point out here is that there is a trick when you organize your Outlook Express mail file. First delete your inbox or information in your outbox you no longer want. This operation just puts them into the Waste Trash folder. Right click on the latter and choose to empty. This will (you will give you a warning) permanently delete this information.
Anyway, only one of your cleaning files, folders and compresses all folders, you can find the disk space.
Starting for Windows, another location that can be income from a comprehensive check is the list of launcher. Many programs in this list don't necessarily be loaded when Windows is started, or even some programs interfere with each other, such as CD burnouts.
These programs may be located in different locations of the file system and the registry, but Windows 98 has a very useful system configuration tool (System Configuration Utility). If you click "Run" in the "Start" menu and enter msconfig.exe, you will go into the "Start" tab, and you will see all the programs loaded during the "Startup" process, where you can close A program instead of permanently deleting the program from this list.
Although some applications are loaded into the "launch" list repeatedly, you can get a deeper layer to enter this option, and will always find a way to close these programs. The most common two applications are Windows (or MSN) instant messaging programs and REAL One or Real Player.
If you enter the "Tools" menu of Outlook Express, you will see that there is a "Windows Instant Message", "Options ..." dialog hide it. There is an option in the Preferences tab. "Run the program when Windows starts", you can do this option not to check. After doing these operations, enter the Tools menu and select Options. Do not check the Auto Log in to the Windows Instant Message Server option on the Regular tab. For Real One Player, you can go to "Tool" "option" (you may need to click "Double-Chevron" on the menu bar to see the Tools menu). You can see some options in Auto Services, if you like, you can close these options.
For other tenacious programs, you can use Startupmonitor to process: This program may be permitted when adding these programs to the "Start" list. For some spyware, this approach is a perfect protection, but this also requires you to have good judgment. If you want to install or uninstall the software, this will ask you to run a program after restarting the system to complete the installation or disk finishing work.
