Dell announced at the Linuxworld meeting held in Frankfurt, Germany, as part of the global agreement with Novell, which will install Novell's SUSE Linux operating system on its Dell PowerEdge server.

Judy Chavis, director of Dell Global Alliance, said at a press conference on the agreement, Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 will be used on the PowerEdge 1850, 2800 and 2850 servers, single CPU server's annual order price is 150 Euro ($ 192), and the dual CPU server has a total of 230 euros.

After Dell signed this agreement with Novell, Dell will provide more platform selection to its Linux users to provide more complete support for customers. According to the Vice President and General Manager of Deldor Branch, Mathias Schadel said in the same press conference that Dell did to provide better service to customers.

According to IDC analyst Chris Ingle, from Novell's perspective, it is also very important to sign this agreement with Dell, because Dell's company's server is very huge.

Previously, Novell has also signed a relevant agreement with companies such as IBM and HP, supporting the SUSE Linux operating system on their servers and PCs.

As part of the agreement, Dell has begun to pre-install the leading Red Hat Linux in the Red Hat Market.

Dell and Novell have started working last year, and the two companies have announced cooperation in the LinuxWorld exhibition held in San Francisco in July. [CCID Wang Ye]
